National Woods Cabin

Just looked at all your photos - are you sure those roof rafters will handle a good snow load?:D

What's your square footage? It doesn't look very big from the photos - not that it would be a bad thing. There is far too much wasted space in most new homes these days.

Beautiful spot. I don't think I could handle the heat and humidity though.

It's not the typical image we have of Texas up here. When I think of Texas, I picture semi-arid scrub brush. I guess there's more to the state than is commonly known.

Best of luck to you in your new home!
Yes, it is pretty small 1342 sq ft.; woods and lake cabin .. perfect size. My other house which I also plan to keep is a little over 2 1/2 times as big and yes it has some wasted space .. but the full size pool table with a real bar Coors Light is classic.

Forest Man

P.S. - I know you were joking about snow, but one of the things the inspector noted were the strong hip braces in the roof. We had snow, I think 4 years ago and it stayed white on the ground for a couple of hours.

Seriously, I have no life.
I am building a cabin in the woods. The back view is the national forest and will always look like it does in the picture below.
...;)
Very nice but let's hope there are no forest fires in your lifetime.;):D
How about wild animals?

I'm just waiting on the audio gear to arrive.

I am getting female and male monkey sounds tracks and your preference is ;) ??

Wild Animals : supposedly wild hogs.. have seen lots of upturned rocks but no animals. some bear (fairly rare), some alligators (fairly rare), some venomous snakes, some really hugh Texas size large mouth bass that jump out of the water and have been known to grab and eat non-Texans :D even large Cat Fish, Bald Eagle nesting , Red-Cockaded woodpecker, black and white woodpecker, squirrels, blue birds , squeech owls, wood ducks and honey bees.

Deer - lots of deer tracks, have seen deer

Plan on putting out wild bird feeders and a salt lick ... also so monkey gym ropes and platforms :D More emphasis on former.

Forest Man ... also former pole vaulter ( come on get your minds out of the gutter) I mean .. never mind

Cabinets in Kitchen - sorry picture is dark

First, I apologize the picture is dark. My camera settings were messed up and flash wouldn't work. However, I did did out the manual and know a lot more about the camera. Next pictures will be more than one and better... I promise.

Supposed to be finished before Santa comes ;)

Later --the forest is serene and peaceful almost like an aneholic chamber

Forest Man

P.S.- Photoshop cleaned the picture up fairly well!

I hope your Christmas completion becomes reality and you are able to enjoy the new place for the Holiday, nothing like
the first Holiday in a new home and you get the best one at that, I guess you dont have to go far for a tree, :)

Looking good.

If Forrest Man farts in the woods and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

What are you using for countertops?

Bring your mountain bike --there is a great forrest road after you follow a trail I buskwacked (actually, canopy forest so it was mainly marking) 2/3-1 miles from back of property to forest road.

Now is not a good time though unless you wear hunter's orange cap and vest and even with that your life is not guaranteed.

Quiet and serene ; hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing , walking ,rocking.

Later,

Forest Man

P..S. - Promise better an more pictures in a week or so.

Christmas will still be bare at the cabin

I hope your Christmas completion becomes reality and you are able to enjoy the new place for the Holiday, nothing like
the first Holiday in a new home and you get the best one at that, I guess you dont have to go far for a tree, :)
Actually, we have to buy all new stuff to furnish it and most it I want delivered there. I am moving the current breakfast table up from our other house. But the living room getting a dual electric recliner couch, book cases, tables, lamps, beds, chest of drawers, washer, dryer, refrigerator all have to be bought. So Christmas will be pretty bare at the cabin. And this is our turn to put on the Christmas shin-dig. But that will be at the main house -Whew!

But not to worry, this is the woods home for the Forest Man to hike and fish and rock.

Later,

Forest Man

I was going to tell Isiberian that I was going to set up a simple 2-channel Stereo with tuner, Marantz amp and Cambridge Audio S30s, but I know he is going to try to talk mein to Behringer Truth 2030ps :D
