My belief is that if they are doing a promotion, go shake their hand, get an autograph, whatever works. But when they are off the clock, especially when they are with their kids, let them be. They have a right to private time.

Many years ago I was at a first round of a golf tournament. Late in the afternoon I was along side a fairway when Jack Nicklaus came up next to me while following his son. I thought but decided against asking him about what kind of shot his son needed play as it was uphill and semi blind. In the five minutes a few fans came up to shake his hand. As he left he turned to me and very quietly nodded his head and said "thank you". That was worth the silence.
That is worth the silence for sure. Having tailed a rock star before it's kind of crazy to see folks coming up in mobs. Some people handle it really well.

Most football players are used to it by the time they get to the NFL. Any NFL player knows he should vacation overseas. :)

Just like a good soccer player vacations here.

I remember seeing a piece on an American guy that plays goalie for the Manchester United. Now that guy's got the ideal life. He's a rock star when he's over there in England. But when he comes home to the U.S. he's nobody, so he doesn't have to worry about being bothered.

One real sack, and not that BS sack Farve gave to M.Strahan, one real bone crushing hit and farve will be done for the year and collect a lot of money for nothing.

Been watching the vikings game and Farve looks fine to me. The last drive he threw a perfect ball to Harvin in the endzone and he dropped it. They will have a very good offense. Peterson is a freak of nature and they showcased a bunch of cool things like putting Harvin in the wildcat and also as a halfback. If I was a vikings fan I would be excited for this coming year.

I am in my second season in the franchise mode with the Bills on Madden 10. I have made it to the AFC championship game and I end up playing the 8-8 San Diego Chargers  for the rights to play in the superbowl  . Not sure what I am going to do on defense yet...time to gameplan :D and destroy Rivers with my pass rusher Maybin :p

LOL **** Jauron or Norv Turner will be coaching in the superbowl....LOL

Just as long as you don't lose to the Cowboys in the Super Bowl again it will be funny. :p

Norv Turner is a great OC, but he's not a great head coach.

Anyone who coaches in Buffalo and goes .500 is a good coach in my mind. It's kinda like the Bengals coach. He'd do amazing if he had a real GM.

That may be wishful thinking. We are talking about a guy who doesn't know how to quit. He'd probably go out on crutches if he had too. Minnesota could end up being the next team to beat you in the championship game. Of course you at least get there. Which is more than the Cowboys can say anymore.

Yes I posted in haste as you are correct in the evaluation of Farve's play , he really did look good and by the time I kinda wanted to make a retraction of the first post, well the edit feature was long gone, lol.

I know, I think I was venting a bit about his report of a broken rib and how he always draws all the attention to himself. but I guess with his talent level at his position being so damn good people will always look for all the ailments and story lines to bring him down a notch, I just did the same thing, the guy is tough as nails and I dont wish any ill will towards him. The Vikings will be a force in the nfc no doubt about it , he looked awesome last night and really fits well in that offense. my bad on the initial post, sawz..

Let's just say after what I saw this team is my pick for a Super Bowl. Peterson, Harvin and Favre all in the backfield is scary. Even Favre's Super Bowl didn't have that kind of talent.

I would like to see Peterson get his. He's the best player in the league right now IMO. Kinda like Sanders back in the 90s(both of them)

Let's not crown them just yet.... Favre has posted worse stats for the last 6-8 games of the season each of the last 5-6 years (including the year he went the NFC championship game) compared to how he started the season. Plus, Minny historically does not play very well in cold weather games. I think that for the Vikes to have a shot to go to the Super Bowl, they need to have home field advantage throughout the playoffs, or at worst the first 2 rounds. Of their last 6 games, they play five against Chicago (2 games including one in Chicago on December 28), @ Arizona, @ Carolina in December, and home against the NY Giants.

Pretty much, the Vikes need to get out to a great start and will have to rest Favre as much as possible down the stretch to keep him healthy for the playoffs.

Agreed. I won't crown him, but I will say their stock went way up.

Chicago should be a lot better though with a real QB.

Looks like the only cold game in the last 5 is against Chicago.

But that's a tough schedule. Still remember they leaned heavily on AP last season and made the playoffs. If Favre brings them just 2 more wins than last year they are sitting pretty IMO.

Of course I hope the Cowboys win it all so I'm not cheering for them. With the exception of Berrian(on my fantasy team)

I am not buying into all the hype & hope - we still have a lousy head coach that has no clue what he’s doing, and an offense that has no idea how to protect the QB, nor open running lanes.

Favre is going to get hurt, and Jackson’s style is too different for the team to make the adjustment. They’ll end the season 8-8

Farve just has to make good decisions. I was really impressed with him last night. He had nice touch on that pass to Harvin in which he dropped in the endzone. All favre has to do is now is know when to go to the screen pass which is a deadly play for their offense and throw bullet passes on slants and only go down field when the time presents itself and not force it down field. He has enough talent around him in which he does not have to force things.

The Vikings offense will keep defenses on edge because of all the possible things they can do. I will buy into the Vikings hype as long as Favre stays healthy. They have a deadly offense, and have not even let the cat of the bag yet.

P.S Childress? is not that bad of a coach

Carolina won't exactly be a warm game. It's a night game in Charlotte in December- the temperature will almost definitely be below 40 if not 35 by kickoff.

Looking at their schedule, I think 10 wins is probably where they should be this year... maybe 11.

I never judge performance by preseason games- good or bad. Favre looked comfortable last night at times, but it also didn't look like Houston did a whole lot with their defense. There were very few major blitzes, almost no DT stunts, and the LBs generally played straight up. This coming against a Defense that was one of the 7 or 8 worst in the league last year.

I wouldn't be so sure. I think predicting wins is just not possible.

We don't even know who's really gonna be good this year.

The Cowboys went 8-8 last year but if you break it down they had a great year for 8-8.

They lost to the 2 super bowl teams went 3-3 in the NFC beast and had romo out for 4 games with a terrible replacement. I saw only 1 loss that was a joke and it was while Romo was injured.

But the league is insanely talented right now and there are a lot of teams that can make a super bowl run if the cards fall just right.

That's why I love the NFL. Most games are really good.

Not too bad. That game's pretty realistic. Except it should be the 13-3 Chargers. :D

You're gonna get stomped! T.O.'s gonna come over the middle and get crushed between Merriman and Jammer! He'll have 2 fractured ribs and a broken Fibula and will have to retire from football. :p
