I didn't say anything this morning, but that's not Dawg's design. It's Andrew's. ;)
Man, he was finally getting credit for something. May as well drop the other shoe and tell about how he didn't build it either because he's an all thumbs salesman. This will crush him, you know that, don't you. I hope he's not too bummed out.

Hey, I told greggp2 on Friday night that I don't really do anything myself. I did help Andrew carry the sub into my house though so if I want, I can say I designed it. I am just kidding, I would never take credit for something like that.

We spent half a day, yesterday, looking at new houses for ideas and we are going with the antique glazed finish. The cabinet maker assured me that there wouldn't be any durability issues with his technique. He said it was a much better choice and it would look awesome. He is doing a door for us first so we can see it.

I spent all moring smoozing a salesman at a local appliance store, in the end, I was able to get a contractor rate on all Euro-style Jenn-Air appliances. Ended up at around 5% over cost and saved me about 3k which was half of what my budget was. This allowed me to just pay cash and be done with it. I count that as a big SCORE!

Good job on the appliances I love contractor prices. They are very nice units they look and perform with the best.Their cook tops remind me of the viking units, your kitchen is gonna be top notch...now I dont want to build a sub I want to finish my kitchen..Being in sales really helps you out when it comes to "buying things"you must have that gift.

Yes, we ended up liking the Jenn-Air better than the GE Profile, cleaner more industrial look.

Glad I am good at sales as I am not good at anything else.

I feel better about spending money on the house vs on HT gear. Atleast I have a chance to recover some of that money in the end.

I have a feeling my next thread will be "how to get a oven out of the wall without damage". Placed everything on Craigslist last night and already getting responses.

Nice going Greg... Sounds like the Kitchen will look great. Just be a little mindful around the cabinets, (ie. don't open them with utensils in your hands, that could rub up/scratch them) and you should probably be ok. I would definitely put some type of knobs on the cabinets, so you will be opening and closing them from the knobs. This will prevent you from having to touch them too much, which is where you'll run into issues down the road with the glazing.

Craigslist is amazing. When I bought my house, the guy left a really nice Mahogany Pool Table in the Living Room. I wanted to keep it, but really had no place for it, so up onto Craigslist it went. Within 2 days, it was sold for $1,000 cash and gone. I was amazed. I had 6 young guys in a truck show up and take it. The thing weighed a ton...

Still have any room left in your budget for the Sigs? let me know if you get them, I've actually considered selling my B&W's to get those.. Not sure if that would be the best move, but at times, I find my B&W's really bright. That's why I returned my yamaha 3900. I was getting listening fatique when I listened to them within 15-30 min. Not good. Hopefully the Arcam unit will be better...

I don't want to read "CO2 Emission Abatement in IGCC Power Plants by Semiclosed Cycles: Part A - With Oxygen Blown Combustion," so this is me posting.

That should be easy as long as it was installed correctly. There are usually trim pieces that snap or slide off around the sides, or you can access screws by opening the door, or both. Once you manage to get the screws out, which takes some creativity or those tiny angled screwdrivers sometimes, the oven should slide out. You can usually lift off the door to make it easier too. Then slide the sucker out and hopefully you have enough cord length in the back that you can set it on the floor on some cardboard or something and disconnect it, after you cut the breaker, of course.

I had to install my double ovens that my EE advisor gave me. Then I had to remove them because it toasted a thermal fuse and a transformer during self cleaning. Then I reinstalled it. Then I installed 2 new ovens for my EE advisor when his kitchen remodel was done. Then I had to remove, wire, and reinstall one that a stupid electrician pretended to hook up but didn't for someone else. I consider myself a pro now :D.

EDIT: It looks like your oven is similar to mine except single. Whirlpool, right? There might also be screws towards the bottom corners fastening the trim pieces. I had to remove the oven door to get at those IIRC. It was a while ago, but all I need to do is go look at it to remember. I'll do that later when you are ready and when I shouldn't be working.

The oven sold last night, it had a total of 2 screws holding it in so no problem getting it out. It was hard wired so I got my neighbor who is an electrician to pull that part. Dishwasher sold early in the week, only thing left is the microwave.

All the fun starts in the morning so wish us luck. I get to spend the day, today, pulling all my HT gear. I am really looking forward to that;)

Good to hear. Glad it was easy to remove. It sounds like you didn't have any trouble selling your appliances so that makes it all the easier to upgrade! Good luck on the HT move...

Well they have all the walls primered and the first round on the cabinets done. The house is packaged up like a Christmas present and hard to live in right now. I left my camera in a section of the house I can't get to so no pics right now. They said they should finish early on Friday and all the new appliances will be delivered on Saturday. She wants to add a wine fridge now so it looks like I will have to get some one out here to redo one cabinet and then have the guy reglaze that one. Wish she had of decided that last week.

What's the condition of the MW? I wonder if it could be used in a stand alone application.

Might make a nice wedding gift;) jk

I pulled the MV from the Craigslist ad. When I removed it, I noted that the powercord had been sliced. I don't know if it was an accident when they built the house or if it was intended. A 3 prong cord was used for the splice.

Do some MV cords come as 2 prong and they needed it to be 3 prongs since it is built in?

I may just junk it or see if anyone will give me 35 bucks for it.

The cabinets are done and look awesome. I have taken a few pictures but between my camera and me, they are not turning out very well. I think if I can get some natural sunlight you could see the detail but it is cloudy today. I will try again a little later and post something. It still cracks me up that I spent a lot of money to have a guy come in and make my stuff look old and worn out!

The wall color turned out a tad lighter then we thought it would but we really like it. The crown molding looks way better white then it did the natural wood color. We ended up doing the mantel in the same antique almond as the cabinets. It looks really good on top of the Austin stone.

The appliances will be here between 2 and 4pm.

Thanks for asking.

Here are a few pictures. The lighting is pretty bad and the pictures don't do it justice but maybe you can tell something. It looks great in real life.

I can't add the hardware until tomorrow but we went with all hand-oiled bronze.

I tried using that logic on an online dating site, but it got me nowhere.
