Update!!!!!!

Well folks, it looks like I will NOT be selling my gear. I thought I had it all sold for the most part, but to no avail. With that being said, I am in too deep so to speak and as such just can NOT give it all away. Therefore, I may just box it up and put it all away for the time being. Seems like everyone wants something for nothing nowadays. Thanks a lot!!!!

Cheers,

Phil

PS: The Omni 20 wall-mounting brackets will NOT automatically come with the 170's. If the buyer wants them, he will pay more for them. The stands for the 340's will NOT be included as well.

Of course, nobody out there wants to hear bad news concerning a family member(s). Especially, when it comes to health related matters.
Phil
OH YES, SOME OF US DO!

Phil, I just got into this thread. But you know how I feel about these health matters. You know that a lot of us have gone through some pretty bad times ourselves...and we do care and do want to listen and help. How else can people care about you unless you let them? So let us.

You know me, Phil, and know that I don't mince words when it comes to this stuff. They only give the tough stuff to those that can handle it. Your mother is one of those. You need to take your cue from her, amigo. You need to be one of those, too. What would she want from, and for, you?! Strength, honesty, and love, I'd wager.

Nice post, but not really sure what you are implying. Or, perhaps I am missing something here. Just trying to get rid of my gear, but I am NOT going to give it away. Really don't need the funds that bad to do that. Perhaps, other folks here assume so. However, I do appreciate your kind words.

Cheers,

Phil

To be fair, I think you were expecting too much from the speakers. You can get the speakers brand new directly from Ascend for $1100, and it was only a couple weeks ago that you could get the system shipped for $1000 shipped from Ascend. Typically speakers lose a good portion of their value on the used market. If I was listing the system I would list it at $800 and would not expect to actually get that.

The price is as posted. No offense, but I really could care less what the package was several weeks ago. That was then and this is now. The 170's have NOT even been hooked up!!! Really don't appreciate you posting here and attempting to ruin what I am trying to do. Thanks a bunch. A simple PM to discuss your point of view would have been much more appropriate. Perhaps, next time think before you post. With that being said, it is a take it OR leave it kinda deal.

Cheers,

Phil

Hi croseiv. Getting out is not an easy thing to do. However, there are times in life when we have to do things we would rather not. I just do not have the time nor the money to do the things I want to do. Furthermore, I am a bit tired of spending all of my money on this hobby. I only owe a bit over $400 on my LCD, but still have some credit card debt. Seems like it never ends and my time is even more constrained because of my Mom's health. If that were not enough, then my daughter is going to end up homeless because she can't get along with her Mother.

My living-room is not ht friendly and is laid out rather strangely. I would have to start friom scratch and just don't have the time or the resources to do so. Perhaps, I am not as dedicated as I once was and a bit burned-out. Either way, it is time for me to get out while I can. However, getting out does NOT mean giving my gear away. If a resonable offer comes my way, then I will likely opt out. Thank you for your kind words.

Cheers,

Phil

PS: Congrats on your 1500th post!!!!! Well done my friend.

Jamie, you do have a point here. My boss claims I am "sick" and we all know why. However, things are tough and not sure how much longer I can hold up. It doesn't look like my gear will be sold anyways because I an not giving it away. After all, I have over $4200 invested and no one gave it to me. More or less I am stuck and as such will have to learn to deal with it. Oh well, guess it is part of life or so I am told. At least, I am reminded of that quite often. I do appreciate your support my friend.

Cheers,

Phil

Speakerman.....

If you want, I will do some research for the purposes of finding a high efficiency, lower power requirement subwoofer DIY set up that will only require 200 watts or so per driver, yet produce huge SPL levels for your demanding environment. It won't be small; it will be large - no question about that. If you desire such - I will look into this for you. This will allow your existing circuit limitations to be sufficient. It may not get to 20Hz; but 25-33Hz cut off range. But it would easily produce reference levels with low distortion. Is it better to lose 13 Hz of extension? Or lose EVERYTHING?

The only reason I posted is that you said you were taking the speakers off the market. I was trying to help you so that when you decided to try and sell them again you would perhaps a more reasonable expectation. Thanks for the red chiclets though

Hi Chris and thanks for your offer. There are many on here, including myself, that would welcome such a design. To be honest, getting to below 25 Hz really isn't and never has been a priority of mine. I look for musicality in that I long for tight, controlled, punchy, well-articulated bass with excellent distinctness in the transient response. The more linear the better. In other words, I can not stand boomy, un-controlled, over-hung bass that sounds like one note. It just drives me crazy if there is a lack of musicality. However, extension to the mid 20's would be nice for ht applications.

I do appreciate your offer Chris as that is nice of you. One driver I am impressed with is the 12" Infinity Kappa Perfect sub. Been thinking about doing one in a sealed cabinet with lots of bracing using the Oaudio amp. Perhaps, that may be a good starting point. BTW, none of my gear has sold so it looks like getting out if off the table for now.

Cheers,

Phil

Excuse me, but am I missing something here? I did NOT give you a red chicklet. In fact, I have NEVER EVER done that to anyone here. Not sure where you got your information, but it is incorrect. Perhaps, you assumed I did, but you are mistaken if you did. Thanks for your offer of help, but I can manage.:rolleyes:
