I just saw where SVS has free shipping on their box Ultras.

I hope to soon see croseiv's twin towers. :)
Dang! I just missed it. No quads planned for the near future. I'm all grins for now....:D

Here might need another bonzia tree and a good divorce lawyer :D
Four Ultras would trigger major repercussions! I've just now gotten her settled over the duals. :)

Only if one supposes they may offset the enormous energies of the Large Hadron Collider in Europe - I suppose four Ultra's might help keep the earth in balance or something... :p ;)
Yes, be sure to position them in such a way that they oppose the energy fields by the cern particle accellerators, or you may interfere with the earth rotation

You guys are hilarious! I wonder what the magnetic field strength of one of the woofers is? I love those things.

Dang! I just missed it.
Or do you mean, "Yea! Just in time!" ;)

Think of it this way. If you buy two more, you'll be saving $198. That's money in the bank, babeee. More presents at the holidays and all that good stuff.

Congrats on the new 550! I love Blu ray, I have an old 300 from the war with HD. We won the war, but the format still has some quirks. Sony players have fewer hangups than other brands. Enjoy!

wow, crosseiv, I know you've been following BD progress for a long time . . . and you FINALLY got it !!!! :D:D

Nearly a year after I got mine. I dunno how you did it. :p enjoy...

*pssst remember to disengage DRC in the player! (iron man has the worst drc ive ever heard, and its autotriggered by TrueHD). then you're golden.

Initial impressions

Initial overall impression is WOW! Blu-Ray is great, but what seems even more impressive is how the 550 upconverts SD DVD. They look like HD too. It's a big step up from my old Philips player. I like the sleak look of the player too.

I also took some time to give my 1015 some more breathing room by removing the sliding shelf underneath it. It now has about 3 inches of space fore heat to escape above it.

Also, I know many have had trouble with the H1000 remote and don't like it, but it was a simple matter to re-program and have essentially full control of the BDP-S550.
Nice.

That's why I told you to get a BR a year ago!

Man, I still like your set up. It is so nice and clean.

No more upgrade huh, I say the same thing every week and seem to do a major purchase each month. Your stupid dual Utras just cost me another grand or so!

I'm considering this player as well and currently in Canada its the only player with built in DAC's for analog use. Have you had any issues with DTS HD/HDMA formats because this seemed to be a reoccurring question on several forums and confuses the hell out of me:eek:. Secondly your receiver has HDMI why did you opt for Analog route, just curiuos:).

Ps: Heh.. I was reading the s550 owners thread over at AVS and I saw your post.. climbing mount ultra you lucky dog as if one wasn't enough.:D

BTW you room is nice and clean!!
Regards, Billy P:)

Thanks very much! Another grand? What did you get? :)

I haven't any DTS-MA recordings yet, so I can't say. I can say to this point that my previous DVD player of nearly 5 years was hiding some things in my DVDs that are quite obvious (for the better I must say) with the new Sony player. I'm very impressed with its up conversion capability.

Also, the VSX-1015TX doesn't have HDMI capability, hence why I'm running analogue, until I can upgrade my receiver (next in the chain, sometime next year).

I dunno.......

The room looks a little lopsided, IMO. I think you need a pair of SVS ultra's on the right to balance the room.

LOL...j/k.......of course.

Very nice!

Yes and he also needs two sub's on the right to counteract the heavy forces to the left side of the room or the whole house may be sliding....

No seriously, is there anyone out there that really do have four of these in a room?

Adam, here's a few more shots just for you my friend! I think you'll see why I went with dual Ultras as this arrangement (great room) ends up being about 5500 cu ft or so of space. One Ultra had to work to hard to keep me happy.:)
