Knew Steven could not stay out of the fray. If there's red chickleting to be done Steven will do the meting out.:p

Back to the market:

Expect the lows to be retested. I'm thinking 8000 may be a good entry point.

Midcow had multiple accounts, and used them to boost his rep. He probably used multiple accounts to ding everyone, because after about 5, you can't do it anymore.

Excellent point Sheep! I thought of the same thing. I have noticed if I give scale rep to 3 or 4 people on the same day, I get the "you gave to much rep within 24 hours message". It seems like many people were dinged in a matter of minutes.

Some questions, young master:
1. How do you know that he had multiple accounts?
2. How do you know that you can only give out about 5 red chicklets? :D

1.) Co-neck-shons
2.) You can only give out 5 scales before you get the message. Good or Bad.

As always, you da man.

Ahhh. FYI, Alex reported that he was able to give out 10 scales before he hit the limit. Maybe it's point dependent? Don't know.
Interesting... I guess no matter what, we all do the same good/damage.

I'm not in the stock market, but if it hits 7000 I'm gunna poop myself.

It'll just be a self-fullfilling prophecy if that does happen. There's no solid fundamentals supporting that fall. A lot of the volatility you see now is profit taking vs buying opportunity. It take a bit to cycle through. Everyone panics, the market dives (for now real reason other than the panic) astute and institutional investors buy up on the cheap, the market returns, and they sell off to make a quick buck, the market then dips again and it happens all over again... but to a lesser and lesser degree each time until it stablizes.

For instance, my company's stock has been sitting around 32 give or take... it dropped to 27, then 25, then 21. Absolutely ridiculous. I bought 50 shares at 25 and 150 at 21. We're back at 28 as of yesterday. This all happened in the span of 4 days. I wish I could bought a lot more.

I got a red chicklet because someone said I gave them a red chicklet in this thread too. They said "Sheesh why give me a red chicklet" too....

I didn't give anyone a red chicklet either.

:(

*edit* Thanks avaserfi!

Self fullfilling or not, this economy is killing my business. No one wants to buy anything now. I thought we just had to hold out till the election and people would start buying **** again, but I think its going to be much longer now. The international business is saving me, but now the euro is starting to approach the dollar again and it will probably get closer to 1:1 and that will hurt American exports even more. :/

Oh there's no doubt that it's real, regardless of the reason. This is what happens in recession. Everyone gets worried and stops spending as if not buying a blu-ray player is going to make or break things should the worst happen. It's a difficult mindset and despite knowing what I know, I have to say that I succumb to it to a certain degree like everyone else.

Eventually after some time, everyone starts looking around wondering why they still have the same 27" tube tv, the dryer that takes forever and never quite dries the clothes, and the fridge that doesn't have the ice maker. They finally just say screw it and go buy what they want and need. And it's funny because everyone kinda comes to that conclusion about the same time and recessions end fairly quickly once the buying starts.

What business are you in... if you don't mind sharing.

Well, the trouble with a lot of that stuff is that they are made a lot better now. Even though I catch myself saying "wow, they don't make that like they used to" ... really my stuff lasts longer than ever now. Things are getting cheaper and cheaper and lasting longer and longer and doing more and more. I don't really hear of fridges and appliances going out that much either.. at least not like when I was young. And a new dryer or something is dirt cheap. It seems like some industries have almost designed themselves into less business. Another thing is with all the green, save the planet jazz, it is starting not to be trendy to buy stuff like it used to be.

When I have bought lately, I will say I have gotten killer deals. They aren't always advertised online, but anything that is negotiable is /really/ negotiable now. Service industry too.. like getting work done on your home. I bought a new mixer and it was a steal, my PS3 I bought at the end of the summer wasn't a deal but it pretty much replaces needing a blu-ray player, music server and photo server.... or even a computer downstairs.

At least I can count on my iPod failing within a year! :D

I'll PM you, I don't want to say in the main forums.

I just went on CNN Money and the bad news is the stock market is down, the good news is the girl they have telling you is smoking hot and her name is "Poppy."

I can PM you too if you feel left out. ;)

I'll give you a hint: it involves bananas, robots, strippers and dancing pandas.

.
Yes... Poppy Harlow! The name alone evokes some questionable thoughts. The best things about the cable news networks are the bevy of babes they have. I think FOX has them all beat, but there's some fine ones elsewhere. Robin Meade and Kiren Chetry are always great to start my morning!
