err, yes. can you recommend a better place than that? - i really don't have much of a comparison and i know that place targets tourists.

well, it's still the best i've tried compared with all the canned soup taste of the ones here.

When ever I come into a foreign town, first thing I do is I usually talk to the locals to find out where the best food in town is... I rarely come away with a bad experience..

I'm 90 minutes from SF and am there nearly every week on business. The chowder's on me if you make it back. 10 years is a long time considering no speaker or sub has lasted more than one:p.

I wouldn't go that far. Might be in a tourist area, but IMO not as bad as the restaurants right on the Wharf.
Beg to differ, Scomas and Alioto’s are the original Fishermans Wharf eateries. You are thinking of Pier 39. No matter, it's all institutional seafood.
Now, what's this thread about:p;)

svs

we were talking about boston chowder, how did this end up in California:)?
just kidding, lets get back on topic.

I got home today hoping to see my SVS in the driveway or deck and nothing. As I walk onto the deck the deck gate is being held open by a rope which it is never open. I thought to myself they must have brought it in.
I walk in the house and there it is sitting in the kitchen. My dad and cousin had carried it in before I got home. HOLY CRAP when they said this thing is big they werent lying. the delivery guy was raving about the SVS brand.
I slid it down the stairs to the basement on my own. When my wife got home and saw how big the box is she said "YOU Have ISSUES!!!" I said yup.

she said your not going to take it out of the box until we move into the house right? i said, are you crazy. I hooked it all up, popped in war of the worlds and holy #@$@ , I couldnt even turn it up very loud because the rumbling scared new little son!!! Anyway, I will post pictures later. I dont think I am getting the most out of it because it is near the right front side of the room but the room opens up into another big area so its not in a corner.
I need to do some calibrating because i dont think I am doing it right. I have the sub set at 1/3 on the dial, and the reciever sub db at 0db (yamaha reciever) STAY TUNED FOR PICS.
I HAVE A PIC OF MY SON AND I SITTING IN FRONT OF BUT NOT SURE IF I WANT TO POST THAT ONE, WHAT DO YOU THINK?

people generally don't post pics of themselves to keep their identities confidential :)

but since you have your shirt off, we can settle for pics of the sub with your kid. LOL

so when i am calibrating with my radio shack meter which way should I do it with yamaha reciever.
A. set front left speaker DB level to 0, put on test tone and crank receiver volume until spl reads 75 db, switch to center speaker and leave at same reciever volume and adjust db level on speaker until speaker is at 75db, repeat for all speakers.

B. Play yamaha test tone and crank yamaha receiver volume to 00 db, adjust left front main db level until speaker reads 75 db, go to center leave at same volume of 00db and adjust center level db until gets to 75 db.

Here are some pics, the size is ludicrous.
New SVS sub= $1085 on debit card
Rusing home to see the delivered sub= $70 of gas on debit card
Seeing the size of this box and the look on my wifes face= Priceless.

ACTUALLY I CANT POST ANY PICS, IT IS SAYING THAT THE SIZE OF THE FILE FOR ONE PIC EXCEEDS THE FORUMS 100kb LIMIT.

ANY ADVICE? LET ME TRY AND SIGN UP FOR PHOTOBUCKET.
