No joke, my man! Well, actually, it scared my dog. She hates thunder, and that scene sounded so real. Made me feel bad, so now I try to mute it when that scene comes around...unless she's sun bathing outside, then I let it rip!

I also recently watched the "Rat" with the Ultra and the shot gun blast as well are quite impressive. Watched August Rush with friends last night and a few scenes in it were good too. Like when the car drives by with the loud bass music, it gets pretty intense.

thats exactly what scene it was. its in the beginning, I was sitting down and my wife was in the bathroom and it scared the CRAP out of us at very low volume.
talk about real life experience.
I still havent had time to mess around with it and really give it a ride or dial it in.

splitter

it says you dont need it in the manual but i have a y splitter, is it pointless to split the signal and connect it into the R and L input on the SVS sub?

Just use either the L or the R. No need to use Y splitter. Only if you where running two subs.

I thin this can up the input voltage a bit? Might help if the Auto on cuts out, but it doesn't sound like it is.

impressions

So i just watched my first entire movie with my new svs. HOLY CRAP!! I watched finding Nemo and the whole house was shaking!!! This thing is the real deal!!!! I thought I was in the movie, I have it set 1/3 on the sub dial, 0 on the receiver sub setting and tuned at 20Hz.
it is calibrated at 75Db-76db with my other speakers.

All I can say is this thing makes my last sub Boston PV1000 feel like a tweeter!!!

Once i get this thing set up in a corner in my new house I cant wait to see how it sounds once i am able to spread out my mains.

I STILL DONT GET MUCH OF A REAL LIFE EFFECT FROM TV CHANNELS BUT PROBABLY BECAUSE IT IS HOOKED UP WITH AN ANALOGUE SIGNAL.
HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE DIFFERENT IN THE NEW HOUSE WHEN i HAVE FIOS OR dtv.

placebo effect

so today i put on the Y splitter to the SVS to the right and left channel on the sub. it sounds to me like the output is a little stronger with the Y splitter. placebo effect or not???

Not sure, do you have an SPL meter so you can actually measure the output with and without the y splitter?
