So since we just had a baby 6 weeks ago and building a house that will be ready in september I didnt want to bump into the funds to buy an svs. So what did I do? I sold my guitar amp for $400 and sold my Boston pv 1000 for $400. I just got off the phone with the buyer of my boston sub and at first he wasnt going to buy it because he was afraid because he was not local and buying it off me on craigslist because of scams. after talking with him on the phone for awhile and seeing i am normal i told him he can pay half and when he recieves it pay the other half and presto it is sold (although i have to trust he pays the other half).
as soon as I get the next payment from him i am pulling the trigger on the svs.

$400 from guitar amp
$400 from boston sub
$300 of my commision check
=$1100 SVS PB12 plus/2 within the next week!!!! (plus) 100$ for shipping.

the only problem is i will be moving in sept and will have to move the SUB!!!!

why save the box for the move? i know i will never be shipping this thing because i know if it is half as good as what you folks say it is then i will not be selling it. i think i'll wear a diaper though just in case i crap my pants.

it's safer for the sub to be transported in the original packaging. besides, when one day you upgrade to an ultra, you'll need the box - the box itself should save you hundreds of dollars in your subwoofer value.

Yes I would save the box for the move. It's the safest way to transport it. It comes on a little skid (Pallet) to help move it around with a fork lift. The moving company can use a hand truck to move it easier with the skid.

Congratulations!

I would also recommend keeping the box. Then again, I keep almost every box that stuff comes in for when I want to move, or just pack it away.

I THOUGHT ABOUT the ultra but couldnt see spending $1600 on it and alex at svs recomended pb13 ultra or pb plus/2 or pb 12 plus. with the size room i have i thought the dual 12s would be great. how is one 12 inch driver of the pb13 ultra better than dual drivers of the plus/2?

Its all about the design of the driver itself... Much more controlled, which provides a cleaner reproduction of bass... Less control leads to distortion and note overhang.

I have 2 Plus/2's in my great room, and they provide serious waves of bass and they sound fantastic. They might not be as clean as the Ultra's and I would love to replace them with Dual Ultra's, but DIY is in my future instead... I have a JL F112 in my other system, and I like the cleaner, more controlled nature of that sub, but its sealed. I prefer the depth trolling ability of a ported sub for HT.

Those waves of Bass for HT is something that will open your eyes and drop your jaw... Enjoy your new sub, honestly I really don't have to say that, as you will really love it... :)

I think you meant to say.... PB13... and PB12

The SB12 is a small Sealed Sub... Hence the Initials SB - Sealed Box..
And PB- for Ported Box...

i just got out the tape measure to see how big it really is gonna be and the measurements are very big, however in the large great room it will sit well in the corner.

You can measure, you can try to replicate the size of it with other items. But you never understand how large it is until you see it in person.

Wait LMAO :eek::D:D:D

So true! The size of my PC-Ultra took me by surprise, even though I knew the dimensions of it. I can visualize lengths pretty well, but I have trouble visualizing volume. I'm guessing that at least some others are the same way.

Yes, the box will be very huge, you won't understand untill you see it, but you will love it. You will be scared the first time you really hear the sub unleash some deep low sub bass.
