The Speaker Company?

Let me just say this then I'll leave:

All internet direct (ID) manufacturers have a difficult time creating a customer base. The legitimate ones will happily submit samples to many publications for review. If the product lives up to a certain level of quality and performance, the company will receive a good review and in a sense free advertisement. On forums like this, posts about favorable past experiences from customers like us can give a company more merchandising return for it's products then any amount of print advertisement.

The advantages of an ID company structure are supposed to be a lower overhead with savings passed on to the customer. The few ID audio/visual brands that I've experienced are quality products. But they have to be or they won't stay in business long. It's almost expected that quality levels must be higher than what we can buy at our local stores.

With companies like the one the OP has brought to light, there is nothing that can be said positive without knowledge of the company, it's management or it's products. And we all seem to have none of the above.

Well said.

I just want to point out that there have been threads started on "The Speaker Company" in the past week. One on each of these forums:
Audiohloics (this thread)
AVSForum Jan. 21, 2008
Ecoustics Jan. 25, 2008

I find it interesting that there was also a press release found on Reuters and CNet about this new company. I smell a marketing blitz...I'm not saying there's anything wrong with this tactic.
The time frame for this is just too tight to be coincidence. All the posters have been relatively new individuals on each forum.

I seriously doubt you're going to get your answer, either that or he'd likely have to lie about it, which would put him in the same boat as the people he's trying to sandbag.

I myself purchased a 20-39 PCi a little over two years ago and it was my first delve into the non-entry level subwoofers ($300+). I was very pleased with its performance in my larger sized listening area for movies, but it didn't quite perform as well as I'd like for two channel music listening. The upgraded NSD driver did improve things to the point where I was happy with it's performance in all aspects, but like many curious Audioholics, I decided to delve into the DIY side of subs.

Having my first build be a clone of the 20-30 PCi (w/an older SVS Plus driver and more powerful amp), I was pretty happy with it and considering it cost even less than the PCi, which at the time I thought was a great deal, I decided to perform some additional builds. I've since built close to 10 or so and it gets more fun and the performance gets better and better w/each build. Along the way I chose to sell my SVS as I'd since built better performing subs, but it also bothered me to have it sitting there collecting dust.

Am I an SVS troll/fanboy/whatever you want to call it? Sh;t no, but I am an advocate of their products having first-hand knowledge of their products myself as well as some of my close friends. I've also owned or have used other solid performing subs such as REL, Velo and Earthquake, I've also built better subs than the SVS I purchased, but I still believe that someone that either doesn't have the knowledge, time or skill to go the DIY route can do very will with any of their sub offerings.

So before you (furrycute) continue on your crusade of ID bashing, do yourself and others the courtesy of demo'ing some of the products you so vehemently denounce... -TD

I am not denouncing their product. I am denouncing their business practice. And which part of my post constitutes "bashing?" I am merely stating the truth.

And that's about the twelveth time in one day that you've either referenced Clint's post or reposted it yourself. Is constant reguratation the only way you can get your point across to others?

There's a fine line between getting your point across and sounding like a zealot... -TD

And this is about the 24th time you have tried to discredit the validity of my original statement. And about the 24th time you have labeled as a fringe lunatic.

The only defense I know of, in my own defense, with this kind of character attack, is just by stating the fact.

You cannot dispute the fact of SVS's shady business practices.

But you are free to continue with your assault on my character.

What was your original point? You've convoluted it so well to this point, I don't think anyone knows what it was anymore... -TD

Furry,

What experience do you have to make a statement about SVS "shady business practices"???

This is as bad as the guy that posts about how great a product is because he read it was without having personal experience with the product himself.
