Seriously, I have no life.
I thought the movie was enormously entertaining.
What I want to know is how a 4,000 pound car turns into a 400,000 pound robot?
Its a molecular transformation process capability evolved on their world. Just as that cell phone in the box turning into that pesky robot and the miniature guns.
It is not just a straight change out as one might think.

That's the answer I can believe in! I just knew it had to be something like that! LOL.
I think I will watch it tonight again, haven't seen it yet on my new Plasma.

And it is just does not seem as neat as neat to me as compared to a mechanical transformation, as the G1 units used.

The older voice is NOT right with this movie, nor the character?

Why? Because Michael Bay says so?

How do giant robots sound?

If they had put the original voice in Megatron, would everyone immediately say, "Oh, that just doesn't sound right"???
Because they SHOWED the clip, from the NEW movie, with BOTH voices. It just sounds dumb. The older voice doesn't suite the new megatron. Go watch the clip if you don't believe me.

and thus, the problem with changing the look from cool megatron to scrap metal megatron :D

Oh, I saw the whole speacial features. I know exactly what you are talking about. To me, the older voice Megatron would still be perfect. There is no reason to replace that voice. To me, it's almost like replacing Darth Vader's voice with someone younger. To me, AGENT SMITH does not sound like Megatron.:D

What can I say. The G1 was so retro, old fashioned, crude process:D

bass truly is non-existent, my subwoofers are calibrated 10-20db hot in anticipation for this movie. except for the obvious scenes like the ironhide fight scene. stuff like shockwaves and tanks flying get some thap sound instead of "shockwave" slam.
A lot of people on AVS made that complaint. I used a P.O.S., barely (I used the auto mode) calibrated Sony HT-DDW790 5.1 system connected to my Toshiba A2 HD-DVD player via toslink and heard plenty of room shaking bass. (Nope, it didn't distort either.) (Note: The A2 will convert the Dolby Digital Plus to DTS over toslink.) My gf was a bit freaked out as this was her first experience w/ a surround system. (She has EXCELLENT ears.) I kind of cringed

Oh, my gf liked this craption movie. Honestly, I would rather watch Dreamgirls again.

I will break out my Avia and Digital Video Essentials discs to calibrate the receiver this week as well as see if this $97 (Yes, I said NINETY-SEVEN!) 5.1 home theater in a box (no DVD thak goodness) can play "Die Zauberflöte" better than my TV speakers. (This is in my master bedroom, not my family room.)

PS....just a suggestion to the moderators: HD/BR discussions that only discuss video quality, bitrates, and stuff that has nothing to do with the movie itself should be moved to a different/newly created forum page.
That other thread was open for ANY type of discussion.
And I have to disagree with you, about moving it (or any other movie thread).
Because this is not AVS where there is a specific area for EVERY little topic.

That being said, the PQ was great IMO.
The movie itself was worth watching, certainly for the babe. Acting was pretty poor, but then again look at what we are talking about.
A movie based on a childs toy, comic book, morning/afternoon cartoon.

So seeing some of the people belittle the movie, I find quite funny (considering what it is based on).
And the seriousness on how they watched it, just amazes me. Making me think, these fellows have no life, other than to be analytical.:p

It was a fun movie to watch, and great for passing the time. (well worth the price of admission, or the cost of the disc)
Some EXCELLENT effects, that rival some of the best in the business (IMO).
A very easy movie to suggest as a blind buy.

Any news of Transformers on Blu-ray?
Then we can do a comparison. I've seen Transformers on HD DVD twice now, and twice disappointed overall with the sound. I just expected more. Ratatouille, Die Hard 4, Day After Tomorrow, Underworld, ect. had a lot better sound quality than Transformers. Of course, all of them were either PCM or DTS-HD, and Transformers was only DD+.

I too grew up on the cartoon, but I wouldn't consider myself a Transformer "purist", so the story line did not bother me.
In a nutshell, I loved the movie! Very entertaining! The on-screen dialogue in some scenes seemed to soften quite a bit (possibly because I was still recovering from the action sequence the scene before), but the picture quality was amazing! (Even on my $98 HD-A2)
The bass note towards the end of chapter 19 (I think) is unlike anything I've ever heard before. I think my house moved off it's foundation. And if the action scenes and robot transformations are not enough to make you watch this movie, Megan Fox is reason enough. Even my wife claimed "DANG, she's hot!" (and she usually does not make comments like that.) My response: Yes she is, honney... yes, she is!! :D

Except in the beginning where those tanks just land making almost no sound.
I watched DH4 BD yesterday and it seems like every time a door opens, I hear this great sounding bass. And yet in Transformers HD, when the decepticon (what's his name--the chopper?) blasts the troops in the opening scene and those tanks get destroyed and land, I hear very little bass.

Should we do a quick comparison between Transformers HD and other blu-ray movies?

Transformers HD vs

Day After Tomorrow
Hellboy
Underworld
Underworld Evolution
Die Hard 4
Ratatouille

Are there other blu-ray movies that would beat Transformers' HD soundtrack?

Underworld had bass? Hm, I guess I was barfing so loud over the worst CGI in the world that I didn't notice.

Cliff note: Loud barfing FTL.

I thought the same thing when I watched Transformers the other day on an A3 in DD+ and Ratatouille had better bass with its PCM soundtrack. I think the regular dvd soundtrack had more punch. The PQ was awesome though.

Hell even the DTS-Core soundtrack of Die Hard 4 is more dynamic.

Oh, come on, Sheep.

How can you not love Lycans + Vampires + Babes?

Sure it could have been better. Yes.

Didn't Len Wiseman directed Underworld, Underworld Evolution, and Die Hard 4?

I thought the PCM soundtracks to UW & UW Evolution were fantastic.

Have you seen Day After Tomorrow BD? The DTS-Core was awesome, 100% better than Transformers DD+ IMO.

I watched Die Hard 2 BD yesterday. SORRY soundtrack. SORRY picture quality. I saw "The 13th Warrior" on SD DVD Dual Layer in DD last night. Looks just as good as the Die Hard 2 BD picture & sound better IMO!

Yes, but in reality is that what you would expect from an opening door? Not me. Perhaps some soundtracks are over done?
On the other hand, I'd expect a pretty good effect when a 60t tank lands from a flight:D
