I understand we have an extremely different taste in music. I just don't understand how anyone can like some of the bands you get into.

The real meaning is a modern take on Cassandra and her gift of prophecy. Apollo gave her the gift, but she did not return his affections and he cursed her. Hence the "Don't believe this girl she preaches mayhem".

The latter part of the song is more of a modern interpretation of the legend.

"At 6 miles up it will explode" = Space shuttle.
"At sea level you will be drowned" = New Orleans
"Beneath the surface the monster will have you" = Earthquake/Volcano

Cassandra played a big role in the Battle of Troy. She told everyone not to except the gift (Trojan horse). No one listened to the damned.

Well, when I checked-out Fear Before The March Of Flames, that shrill voice instantly reminded me of Reveille. I actually had to go find the cd to remember the bands name. It was a little dusty.
