In that case, none of the ones on my list even come close to matching that description. In fact, all have a widely varying sound as well as good musicianship. Are you dismissing them after listening to 30 second clips, or something?:confused:

Watched about three vids from each for about two minutes each. If they are gonna play donna for two minutes, I am bored with it. I mean no offense. I like the way Primus and the Chili Peppers get right down to business.

Now I am starting to get it. You like catchy, irresistable riffs and hooks.
Interestingly, I was just thinking last night about how few bands do that these days, when it used to be the norm. Among my all-time favorite riffs are Miss America by Styx, Cat Scratch Fever by Ted Nugent, Barracuda by Heart, Jumpin' Jack Flash by the Stones, La Grange by ZZ Top, and Ballroom Blitz by Sweet.

Whatever happened to riff rock? Simple but catchy melodies, toe-tapping rythm, and power chords in exactly the right places so that you couldn't help but play air guitar. It is hard to find bands that do that anymore, and it used to be what everyone aspired to (some, such as Foreigner and Fleetwood Mac, did it extremely well.) Now, everyone wants to be dense and complex.

I have no problem with "complex" music, as evidenced by my musical tastes; what I have a problem with is uninspiring, corperately driven, rehashed, and simple-minded garbage that gets played on the radio, from all genre's, and all era's! :D

Really, I suppose that the ratio of c**p music to good stuff has remained about constant through all eras. If it seems like music was better in the past, it is because we remember the ones that were worth remembering, and forget the rest.

Isn't there some kind of connection with Primus and South Park? Like Matt and Trey use Primus for theme music, etc.? Or am I hallucinating this?

Couldn't have said it better myself, however, it does seem harder to find decent stuff on the radio these days. :rolleyes:

And Starmax,

Primus does in fact play the South Park theme music.

That is true.

Regarding the above mentioned music, it's just new age metal, which is so plain and anti-badass. Riff rock is the stuff that never sticks around.
