I'll
look at it, sure, but "expected calculations" are never as good as properly executed
measurements with good gear, in an acoustically isolated environment. Those sort of simulators only give a ballpark idea of what's possible.
You getting into REW even with just a introductory mic like the UMIK is a good idea in my mind. I've never owned that particular one myself but I have owned other measurement gear and I'll tell you it is very informative to have personal, hands on experience like that.
People don't realize their "silent" rooms aren't silent at all! There are all sorts of sounds lurking at quiet levels that fall below our thresholds of hearing (audible detection levels). REW and other programs can show you that! It also can show you that all sorts of things those simulator programs don't factor in are important. For example, here is a measurement I took (with my iphone) showing a quick, basic, down and dirty measurement of my "silent" room. My written overlay text is denoting that my building's dryer vent fan was temporarily turned off [it's usually "on", 24/7/365] and that the door to my bedroom closet was shut [which changes the volume of air in the room]. I bet your simulator program doesn't ask such picky questions yet I assure you,
they matter!
