The profit margin is smaller, certainly. But, that doesn't make it more expensive to buy - price is determined by the markets. In fact, since that oil is far from tide water, the only practical customer is the US, who can purchase it at a discount for that very reason.

Mini documentary from someone on the ground in Ukraine (broken up into 6 parts because of Twit's format):
Actions, reactions. In the post war historical analysis, these units activity will bear some scrutiny in their role before this part of the war started. Were they a reaction to Russian incursions since 2014, or something else, Moscow's Nazi view of events. What is interesting is how many foreign mercenaries they attracted into their ranks, even from the US.

The Donbas War was/is a real thing that was not getting much media coverage nor the attention it deserved from Western countries.

For what it's worth: Things are always more complicated than the media reports.

Very interesting Axios interview with Zelensky from last year. Worth a watch if you have HBO Max.
His comments on Jan 6 and the famous phone call are quite revealing about his view of the US.

Seriously, I have no life.
Is that all they want? Until they come up with something else? And, will they rebuild the whole country on Russi'as tab?
All they want is everything but they would take more, if they could.

You could drive cars less as well as use more fuel efficient ones.;)
Have you seen the price of cars? WRT "more efficient"- it has been over 40 years since 'energy efficient' became a supposed goal of the US loose requirement for automaker's and I'm not impressed with the results. There's nothing that works as a demand and if you look at cars like the Dodge Hellcat, Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro and other 'muscle cars', economy isn''t as important as power. The Hellcat hits 14-21 MPG and with a few aftermarket parts, can reach 840 HP. That's almost six times as powerful as the 1981 Oldsmobile Cutlass I had and the fuel economy is about the same.

US automakers need to make cars more efficient- they do a pretty good job on engine reliability but the fuel use isn't great. Another aspect to how well cars perform is users maintaining them and in the US, a huge percentage of the population is too poor to spend money on their car or they spend their money on other things.

Don't expect people to move closer to the larger cities just because they need to drive in- places like Los Angeles are so spread out and the center of the city is so overbuilt that it would be impossible to pile more housing in and honestly, many people would hate living in such high population density- I know I would. Many people in the Los Angeles area drive more than an hour to AND from work- the smart ones drive more efficient cars, but there's no requirement for that.

I agree with you, but making this happen isn't easy.

Looks like the US is looking to the Saudi's (OPEC) again and maybe easing sanctions on Venezuela.

An interesting EU site.

And, aside from his agenda, why is he not reopening XL? Maybe, it's to prevent angering Psaki.

It's things like the Azov battalion that would to have be addressed prior to admitting Ukraine to NATO and/or the EU.

That said, there's a major departure between Russian rhetoric and reality.
Why is Russia invading Ukraine? Putin’s “Nazi” rhetoric reveals his terrifying war aims. - Vox
There is a small amount of truth in this hyperbole. The Azov Battalion, a neo-Nazi militia, played an important role in fighting Russia’s invasion of eastern Ukraine in 2014; since then, it has been integrated into the Ukrainian national guard. Ukraine’s government has pushed to make Ukrainian the country’s dominant language. Many ethnic Russians — though by no means all — would rather live under Moscow than Kyiv.

But there is an ocean of difference between these real concerns and hyperbolic claims that Ukraine is a neo-Nazi state committing genocide against ethnic Russians.

In Ukraine’s 2019 national election, a far-right political alliance including Azov’s political arm only received 2 percent of the vote. There is no evidence that Zelensky’s government is engaging in large-scale extermination of Russians; no international human rights group nor credible expert has made such a claim.
If the invasion of Ukraine is justified because of the existence of neo-nazi elements in Ukrainian society, it would be justified to invade the US because of this shower of $hit:

Candace is from the Daily Mail so it will be the latest conspiracy. I think if she actually go the nomination she might lose to Biden's economy. She's that bad lol.

Kinski- I don't agree with the penalties against the protesters even though it's costing Canada $500 million per day. Ok maybe differentiate between the individual penalties and the cost to the economy.

I don't think she will be able to take more of her job. I wonder who will sign her up for an evening TV show. CNN is a good bet as they do their reset....

Yes, they are. You guys don't just export pop culture. ;)

My point was that just because there is a neo-nazi group in Ukraine, it doesn't mean the country is saturated with them and needing "de-nazifying".

Apparently that's her nickname amoung the Washington press corp. They are a rather "cojon less" group anyway as they don't their jobs and call her out. There are times I do miss the free for all press conferences of the previous administration.
