It's primarily space not looks, that we choose sealed over ported.
Well I'd make room for the extra 2 or 3 inches needed for the slightly bigger box so I could have superior performance for my system.

Now I'm wondering what your house looks like if it's so congested you can't fit a slightly larger box in there...

If my room was that size I might consider a ported sub. :)

It's not that big of a room. Also, I note that you didn't say "my room isn't that congested"...

:p
Many of us just don't have the room. Thank god for the sealed sub or we would be out of the game forever.

Still no denial of the congestion... lol.

Even if your room is that congested you could easily shove some of those garbage bags off to the side and make room...

I don't have garbage in my room. My room is half the size of the room in the picture. My room is a part bedroom and part office, do get what I'm saying. I don't have any garbage in my room.

There are even some sealed subs that are too big.

A sealed sub can work pretty well in a room as small as you describe. However, this thread and the suggestions given in it are based on a very large, cavernous room and you popped in to seemingly contradict what the rest of us are suggesting. Which is op should get a ported sub for such a large room! Do you agree?

Money is no object, not necessarily. I think you should get the best sub, ported or sealed. Having said that, I would agree, for a large room I would go ported. I wish I had the room for two PB 16's. I have the money but not the room.

And this... I also concur. I would not turn my nose up at a massively powerful 18" or even 24" sealed sub from someone like Funk Audio. Those types generally fall outside of most budgets tho so I try to keep my recommendations a little more realistic on a cost/performance ratio. Those subs are awesome, but you're well beyond the point of diminishing returns at that level.

I just spoke a little favorably about small sealed subs and all hell broke out. :)
Because it was contradictory to the advice we were giving and your post was lacking in appropriate context so some clarification was in order, don't ya think? You were straight up muddying the waters and when we asked for further clarification it was like pulling teeth to get you to do it. It took you like 8 posts to agree with common wisdom.

Well, that will teach you to talk about small sealed subs, favorably. How dare you. Big ported subs have feelings too, you know. Now you go and apologize, young man, and tell those ported boxes you didn't mean to diminish their usefulness.
