New Power amp or another pair of Atmos speakers

Looking for some advice...

For context my setup is 7.2.2 in a treated dedicated theatre. Klipsch RP 440c, 250f, 240s x4, 140sa mounted on ceiling (top middle), dual SVS PB1000. Denon 4300, Oppo 203, OLED 65B7.

I’m trying to decide what my next purchase will be. Either another pair of Klipsch RP’s as top backs or adding a Emotiva 5175. I’ve never had a power amp so I’m wondering how much of a difference I will hear. I do run Audyssey full range, Reference 1 Curve. I don’t feel like I need more power but I’m still wondering.

Or would adding another pair of Atmos speakers for a full 7.2.4 be best. Of course with this option I’ll need to a power amp, I was thinking something cheap.

Thoughts? Advice?

Easy. New atmos speakers. Wouldn’t take a crazy powerful amp.
For the other part, your klipsch are pretty sensitive. I can’t imagine you’d gain a lot by installing a fairly expensive amp.
In fact, I would consider a subwoofer upgrade if before an amp

Thanks. That’s what I was thinking. I suspect it would be a marginal gain.

I’m quite happy with my subs actually. After proper placement I have a pretty flat response with very minimal dips. Of course better subs will gain better results but I’m very happy with them.

Fair enough. It I am a sub enabler so I can’t help myself lol.
Yeah, I have 7.3.4 AND my mains run off a Yamaha pro amp so IME, the biggest benefit will be from another pair of tops. I would go that direction.

Haha no worries. Luckily I don’t have sub envy... yet.

That’s interesting you brought that up, I was also looking at adding an SVS PC2000 but was concerned they wouldn’t pair well with my PB-1000’s. That was initially what I was going to do then decided Atmos speakers were best.

Well the tunings are different enough that I think it could be problematic. If you could swing it, I would look at a long term goal of two pc2k’s. Depending on how old your 1k’s are, you could trade them in? Seems like they’re too old in my memory. In any case, a pair of pc2k’s would be very nice in there. FWIW, 2 of the subs in my main system are pc12pluses. I love the form factor, and they hit deep and hard.

Yeah that is my concern. They are older, so passed the upgrade window. I’m still really happy with them though. Eventually I will upgrade to cylinder subs but for now I’ll take your advice on adding the Atmos as rear tops.

Sounds good man. I think you’ll enjoy that. I’ve been very happy. Oh wait, don’t you need a 10,000 inch screen though? Lmao.

What size room is it? I wouldn't get too excited about a power amp either.

So I’m thinking about upgrading my subs now. Or adding another the mix.

Do you think dual SVS PB1000 would be better than a single SVS PC2000?

If I did add a single PC 2000 to my current PB1000 would that be difficult? I would place it in the rear of my room. Currently my dual PB1000 are at the front in corners 10ft away from my sweet spot. The PC2000 should go on the side rear wall 5ft away.

Would I be better just having 1 PC2000?

Combining the 3 could be done but I would use a mini dsp it won’t be perfect synergy but your pb1000’s will run out of steam before the pc2000. If 1 was sealed and the other ported then you would have some phase difficulties But in the future think about a second pc2000 to have matching ones. Having the same subs is a process work with what you have with an intended goal in the future.

Yeah I would eventually add a second. I’ve been using dual subs for years and can’t go back.

I think I’ll add my second pair of Atmos speakers then add 2 more 1000’s for a complete 7.4.4

I think a pair of PC2000s would be a very worthy upgrade. They could give you what you were hoping for with an amp, which I agree with Bill, won't really net you much.

I recently reached out to SVS and they were willing to give me the 1 year deal if I wanted to trade my Ultra bookshelf (purchased 3 years ago) up for a regular center channel. I ended up not doing it because things worked out, but yeah. Great customer service. You might get lucky. I hit them up in the instant message chat that pops up when you go to their site.

Good to know. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

Well, that’s a lot to consider. IMO, two pb1k will be better overall than a single pc2k. Adding a single pc2k could be problematic due to phase issues around the port tuning as they are different. This can be challenging and imo, a minidsp would need to be added and it can still be difficult. I definitely don’t want to discourage you but you should know it won’t be as simple as dropping them into place. If I was looking at something like this I would place a pair of pc’s in the front and try to incorporate the pb1k’s closer to the couch. Two pc2k’s will definitely outperform two pb1k’s by a margin so...if the goal is 2 of each, I would start as you suggested and just add the PC to the back. Then when you get another another one switch the pb’s to the back. Then look at a long term of four PC2k’s. That would be awesome! Hope I didn’t miss something, I’m still working on my first coffee!

Yeah I made my decision. I will be going with the second pair of Atmos speakers. Just placed an order for an external amp.

I thought about it and it doesn’t make sense to replace my 1000’s since I’m very happy with them. Perhaps in a few years.
