Speaker Positioning, Opinions Pls

I'd say only with active XO networks is this even worth it. Believe it or not, and I don't believe svs is one, but some speakers with dual posts are connected inside the cabinet! FAKE! Almost like .2 sub outs. Except those are useful...
Omg. Well I've had one of my Ultras apart so I know they're legitimately bi-ampable (at least passively).

Agree with everything you typed. If you're gonna bi amp, active is the way to do it. I'm not one to tear out the crossovers in my beautifully designed and nicely balanced speaker. One of these days tho, I could see me building a set of speakers somewhere down the road. I think it'd be pretty cool to make a pair from the ground up with intentions of actively bi amping.

Yeah I actually now that I think about it saw an Audioholics video from Gene about this subject. He said very minimal and not detectable different but he said biamping sometimes can make some difference. I think that wouldn't be worth the trouble though. 2 amp, more money, more cable, more pain in the butt wiring. Only if it made a huge difference would I go that route either

I agree. If it was a big difference it could be worth the investment. I don't have dual posts so I don't care. Lol.

This has been a point of interest to me too. Maybe when I'm 80 I'll find the time. And money, lol. Diy had the potential for cost effectiveness but I know I'd end up way over the top. Lol.

I have them on my Definitive Technology SM 65s mains and center channel but I always that it was just something to satisfy a small percentage of buyers. My SM 55 surrounds have them to now that I'm looking at them.

A legitimate use for the second set of binding posts on a bi wireable speaker!

They're not going anywhere. I was able to tie it to just the right tension so both sets of cables are all holding some of the weight. I'll get those ends trimmed up and capped, then maybe slice up a black work shirt and make a sock to hide the wires.

Very innovative as usually, very nice. I'll put this under things I would have never thought of.

Thanks het, but it really was kind of a group effort. @KEW suggested it and HD and Liam kinda joked the second set of posts into an idea.

I swear, these will be the last pics.

Little bit of hillbilly engineering on my "socks", but I seriously doubt anyone but me will notice. I'm pretty happy with the results.

Well I like how it looks now. Probably sound great. I'm having trouble getting this trigger thing to work from the Parasound amp. I think I hooked it up right and I can't find anything in the menu of the Yamaha to get it going.

Thanks. I love it when a simple idea works so well. You'd have to really try to knock them off their perches now. It's better too because the ports are at the top of the speakers . When I had them upside down the ports were almost right up against the wall. Right side up with the steeper tilt, now they have some breathing room.

I don't have much for advice on your trigger issues. I just plugged in the wire at both ends and it works.

Yeah your lucky. I guess newer amps have 3.5 mm jacks. Mine has the two little screws deal.

Ah, I didn't know that. This is the first amp I've owned. I assumed they all came with the 3.5 mm jack. My receiver has one too. Easy peasy.

No even dumber than that. Didn't realize the little white thing inside was a wire. Duh, how dumb is that!

Little white thing inside what?

Well when you cut the end off and then strip it there is copper inside that you need to twist together, then there is like a second little white with that you need to strip also. That makes the two wires you need to strip. One positive, one negative. Once I stripped both I was good to go.

Thanks, wasn't sure you meant the second wire in the cable or not....

Hey man, I've embarrassed myself on the forums before... what was it?

*Edit: I see you fessed up, lol. Didn't refresh the page before I replied. That was a good one! :p

It happens to us all. No one is perfect and I'm very far from an audio engineer. If I didn't know how to drive a truck and do road repair work I'd be living in a van down by the river.
