Ditto. For quality subwoofers it always matters regardless of room size. Get the HSU.

Yep, klipsch isn't known for great subwoofers. Personally I like rhythmik but that's not on your list lol. I think once you hear the hsu you'll pull the trigger on it. Great bang for your buck.

Am I crazy or did I read somewhere that the outlaw and hsu are one in the same or VERY similar?

Someone smarter than me correct me if I'm wrong.

I would not even consider the Klipsch to be in the same league with Hsu.

AFAIK Dr. Hsu helps or designs their subs for them. So they are not one and the same, but use similar designs.

Ok. That's what it was. I knew I had read something about them being related in some way.

Oh, and I like the Hsu, too, especially since you're in the area and can pick it up....well, if you have an appropriate vehicle....

well when the outlaw ultra x12 is on sale again for $550 shipped, would you guys still choose the mk5?
i think the outlaw goes down to 17 and the hsu down to 18

outlaw on sale $550 shipped, no taxes
mk5 approx $580 with taxes, but requires an hour drive saving me $65 in shipping, and not on sale

Personally I think that you'd be happy with either, they're more similar than different. Go to Hsu and see what you think would be a first step....

The low end extension between the two is going to be basically the same. You won't be able to discern the difference.

I have dual VTF2-MK5s and it's almost frightening how it shakes my small apartment. You will LOVE it.

well i think that settles it. i had my eyes on the mk5 the whole time, but its never on sale so i thought similar subs on sale would be a better buy. but im tired of waiting. been breaking in my klipsch rp280s and rp450c a couple days now at moderate volume.

would i need to break in the mk5 for a few days? if so i wont run audyssey until then. but i want my system up and running friday when i get the mk5. if it does need breakin, i can wait a few days for a sale.
