My first TV/audio stand since I became a single man 19 years ago. I let the ex take everything she wanted except for the kids. It's just been them and I. We mostly did outdoor stuff. Slowly fixing this place up now that the boys are on their own and I don't have a house full of dippy teenagers eating all my food and wearing out my stuff.

Problem was, I have a big honking CRT TV. The last one Samsung made, IIRC. Still works great and I don't really watch it. It's here for the grandkids, mostly. It was the first TV I bought as a single man. The other stand was too small for the TV and was a total ghetto rig. This is a step up. Almost DIY'd one but just couldn't get enthused enough and I don't like the materials options at HD or Lowes and didn't want to buy whole sheets of cabinet ply that is an actual .75".

I thought it was wood shelves. Listed construction as wood. Turns out the shelves are glass on steel frames while the legs and back are solid wood at least. Still, it's sturdy as all get out and the top shelf is rated at 175# and fits the TV nicely.

Now I just need some throw rugs and perhaps build a subwoofer/coffee table if the placement works out that way.
Had a hard time finding a rack for my old Sony CRT. It was 240lbs. and most racks aren't rated for that. Ended up with the Salamander, but then also ended up getting rid of the TV.

I bought this TV on the advice of a TV repair guy who is a factory auth. service tech for multiple major brands. Honestly, if there was some other room I could have stashed it in, I would have and I'd have none in here at all and just have all audio and my computer. Half of why I held off as long as I did. As it stands now, I put the cable box in one of the bedrooms so I don't have to look at that, at least. This did end up being a way to organize my cables, somewhat.

There's a couple women I know who will be pleasantly surprised, that I know were horrified of my ghetto rig. If I put a decent rug down, they may even swear I have evolved a little. :D

Hello folks, I first spoke with Gene DellaSala back in MAY 2015 through email concerning a center channel I was about to purchase. At the end of the convo Gene asked that I share my system once I finished building it. Unfortunately, I'm not made of money so it took me awhile to get my audio system where it currently is today! Without the Audioholic's I would be lost in the deep dark rabbit whole of audio equipment lol. I'm shooting for a decent 5.1 home theater system and right now I have as follows:

SVS Satellites
SVS PC-2000
SVS Prime Towers
Martin Logan Motion 8
Denon AVR-X1100W- (This is my problem or my question I should say lol)

So my actual speakers I'm fine with, however, its my receiver I feel maybe my real issue here. Believe it or not all my equipment listed is still boxed minus the PC-2000 lol. So I haven't run my listed system yet on the Denon AVR-W1100X and after doing some random research. I think I have found that my Denon may not be able to push all what I have listed above? Is this truly the case for my 5.1 system I have, and if so is there a Denon receiver out under $800 that could push this system properly. My fear is that I have speakers that will never reach their true potential with this particular receiver. Hopefully, I can easily sale my Denon X1100W and upgrade if necessary. In short, I guess I should've seen the red flag when my most important piece cost the least amount of the entire 5.1 system. CAN I GET SOME HELP/SUGGESTIONS CONCERNING THIS MATTER PLEASE AND THANK YOU.

Not the thread/subforum for your question but you seem to have latched on to some terms of dubious value in this regard.....what is "properly"? What is "true potential"? I suspect your issue is more along the lines of your reading may have you guessing whether your avr's amps are sufficient or not for your use. That could be a question for the appropriate subforum...amps/pre-pros/receivers.... but then we'd need some information about your speakers' specs, distance to your listening position and volume levels you anticipate to help figure it out. Don't be shy to start a thread of your own...

Thank you for that response bc you are exactly right. You were also correct about the forum I choose as well, I really just picked one after reading through several. Great idea about starting my own thread really didn't think of that lol until you said it. I normally just post questions on existing threads or just read through until I find what I was looking for.

New center speaker.

ultra_bookshelf_fronts_1_4-372x240.jpg

I made a little stand for it.

And a tv mount so it will fit underneath the tv. Shipping status finally updated for both this morning!

Wowed congratulations taxman.
Heh. Nah, that was the subwoofers and carpet! :p This is more like a good week (or 2). I only paid $349 for the speaker on SVS' outlet and the mount was $50. The speaker has a small crack in the finish on the bottom and a light scratch by one of the grill cups. I'll get some wax or black nail polish and try to buff that out. I've had the Ultras for a while now and I'm still happy with them. With this third one I think I'm set up front now. I can't really afford the next step up

YET.

Perhaps next year. The Ultra Towers for L-R, Bookshelf ones move to surround duty. Then the center gets swapped out for Ultra Center.

That's a possibility, but not for a while at least. I can move 2 of the bs to surround duty, but I think I'd still keep the third one for the center channel. It should match up nice with the towers, I'd think better than the Ultra center anyway. I'm making the room for it by mounting my tv a little higher.

Then the year after that it'll be a third Ultra tower for my center, then I'd have to get 1 more bookshelf so I don't have one without a partner. You know, keep him company. Let's not forget 2 more VTF-3 MK5's for behind me in the kitchen (I have the room)... :p

Back with a new name!

Bought a couple things that were delivered recently.

First, new Pioneer SP-BS22A surrounds. I drank the Atmos coolade. Just couldn't afford to match the front Elites.
surrounds.jpg close surround.jpg

Of course, my present AVR is only 7 ch so I can't fully utilize these until I upgrade. Waiting for a sale on either the Denon 4300 or Yamaha 2060. Then I'll be done.

Also added the matching center to the front. It’s bigger than I realized. I moved the TV up on the stand as high as it will go and the CC is just barely out of the picture from the LP.

I like your couches Deano. Looks like a living room worthy of Netflix binging.

I hope the Atmos ceiling bank shot is worth the investment. I'm eager to see your impressions when you catch a sale on your new AVR.

The JBL Everest 700's sound almost as good as my JBL S500's. That is my initial impression anyways. Using the Everest 700's for BT when watching a 4K BR/movie/tv. Use the S500's when on my desktop where I do a lot of music listening. My new Sony 4K BR player is quite impressive. CD's sound really good on it too. Now, need to get my new Sony 4K TV up and powered on. Will get to it sooner or later.

The Dell has the i7 chip w/16 GB ram. But, will hold up to 64. Will be doing just that real soon. Also plan to add a SS drive to speed things up even more. It does have a 1 TB hard drive, but wished it was a bit bigger. Not sure if the 16 GB ram in it now is a single 16 GB stick or it has two 8 GB sticks. Hope to do a full 64 GB ram before it is all said and done. The idea is performance and speed.

Okay my initial impressions were that the JBL Everest 700 headphones did not sound quite as good as my JBL S500 phones. Not sure if "break in" applies to headphones or not, but I can no longer stand by my statement. That is, the Everest 700 do in fact sound better over all than my S500 phones. More specifically, the 700's are on another level in terms of clarity. The low end is almost as good as the S500's, but what is there has better SQ. As such, I stand corrected and just thought that I would clear that up. Headphones are a new thing to me for the most part. However, I like what I am hearing!

Got my (2) free 4K BR in the other day from Sony. Got them because I bought the Sony 4K BR player. These are the first two 4K BR's that I have ever owned. Also, I got (6) months free of Webroot protection with the purchase of my new Dell tower. Decided to just go ahead and extend it out to (2) years. Have had very good luck with Webroot in the past.

The question now is what is behind Door # 3, no? This box actually has (2) items in it. Will open soon enough. No hurry on my end. Lots going on and lots of new gear!

What is the Wharfedale replacing -- It would be interesting to test them against my Digital Phase speakers.
