Really Boring Stuff Only III: Resurrection

Since we're revealing our medical infirmities here, its time for me to announce that I'm back in the prednisone saddle again :(. My red inflamed eye came back in the last month and I finally realized I couldn't wish it away. So beginning last Friday, I started the high dose stuff. As much as I hate all the unwanted side effects of that drug, it's already beginning to work.

sincerely,

Roid-Rage Richard

Woah - did Fuzz get engaged? I really shouldn't have taken a break!

Things here are going fine. Been straightening up the place and...of course...trying to get my Amazon reviews done. Installed two faucets on Memorial Day and another one this past Friday. Just ordered three more. There has got to be a prescription that can help me...

I got my brother a present for his birthday that I think he'll like (and not expect). Odds of him reading this thread are virtually zero, but I'm still going to wait until he gets it before I say what it is.

It sure got hot here this weekend. Things were actually relatively cool, and then POW! There is an "Excessive Heat Warning," which I don't remember ever seeing here in 20 years. It's not THAT hot, at least compared to a normal summer here.
I sure did.

It just wouldn't be the same if you didn't have a few new faucet reviews :p

I had my right shoulder heal after over 2 months of agony. I think work (drywall) kept it from healing but eventually I got laid off and it healed. Now I'm trying to work (gym, not drywall) my left shoulder out of a similar predicament. It's getting better slowly. Don't be in a rush to undergo surgery. Especially shoulder surgery.

Adam, welcome back. Your return may cheer Rick up. He has been kinda weepy since YAA got hitched. :)
Hmm I'm kinda thinking the same thing. Even though I've been trying to rest it, I've been coaching track which just got done last week. I'm still going to make an appointment and see what's what. Heck, I've got the insurance why not use it :D

So I'm looking into a window A/C for the basement so that we don't have to run the whole house A/C as low. Mostly because it's complete sh!t. I measured out the room and it looks like I'm going to need about 12,000 BTU. Does $400 sound about right? Obviously noise is a concern and a decent EER rating, but I was hoping for something about $100 less.

I'm going to guess.... you got your brother a faucet?

Yeah, welcome back.

Isn't there a law in Arizona about having too many faucets?

I think Texas must be hogging up all the rain in the western hemisphere.
Ugh and we are sick of rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trying to get an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon to get my shoulder looked at. I think 2 months is long enough to be in pain.
I'm no doctor, but my shoulders are f'ed in a couple different ways... When, does it hurt?

I ride with pain in my upper back, hips and my right hand goes numb if I don't keep changing position of it on the grip. A single 800mg ibuprofen masks the rest.

What I wasn't prepared for a couple weeks ago was a few days with vertigo. Impossible to ride, I could barely walk straight. All better but on the watchout for that one to ever hit again.

When you're taking 60 mg/day who cares whether its corticosteroids or anabolic steroids? It's all 'roid rage to me.

It could be worse – I'm lucky it isn't hemorrhoid rage .
Oh, quit your itchin' and your b*tchin' and get some Witch Root!

I have always found that room or window ACs are a poor solution. They're all too noisy for me. But I don't know the conditions you have.

Is your problem temperature, humidity, or both? A possible alternative is a room or basement dehumidifier. That can keep ground floor or basement in a townhouse from getting moldy, while you keep the upper floors at a somewhat higher and more comfortable temperature. The dehumidifiers I've known to be effective at that are on wheels and are portable. You can keep it if you move. I bought one from Sears more than 10 years ago, but I don't know who sells good ones now. You must be able to hook them up to a floor drain or sump hole.

On 60 mg/day of corticosteroids you won't have any muscle left and you will have weak bones so it's best not to lose your temper around people......

Tell me about. I'm also taking calcium and vitamin D supplements daily.

I was told by the eye doc that after a week at 60 mg, I can drop the dose to 50, if I think there's an improvement to my eye. Its already happening and I'm certain I'm not fooling myself. After 2 weeks I have to go back to see the guy in Baltimore and he will assess my eye. I hope I can continue to slowly taper off.

You probably haven't been to Johns Hopkins Medical Center, but you must have seen other such impressive places like it in your travels. (The MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston comes to mind.) Just walking in as a patient has a powerful placebo effect on me.

After 30 years in the Medical Field all hospitals look the same to me just like all hotels do.....

I have my cynical side as well. At Hopkins, right next door to the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Cancer Research Building and the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, is the Shiekh Fayed Tower.

Those fund raising people must be good – they cover all bets and don't have prejudices :D.

That's a lesson ISIS could learn – if you can't bomb them, buy them.

So this is where the lame and blind people with poor balance post.

The high pressure hose on my power steering rusted through and leaked. I bought some transmission cooler hose that's good to 400 psi plus special clamps and I'm going to run that so I can get the car to a garage to work on it. I might just leave my Eurotrash solution in place but tomorrow AM the $50 real deal replacement line arrives at my local Nappa.

I was going to try it with fuel line because that's what was around but a trip to Nappa got me to quit acting like an assclown and at least use the right line.

I just came in to salt the steaks and let them come up to temp because that's how fat people stay f^%&ing fat.
