Niki had gotten in the habit of wanting me to get up before 4am.

Needless to day, now that I've been up for an hour and a half, she's already fallen back asleep...

(Post @ 8:17) - (1:30) = "before 4am"???
Perhaps she is just trying to say you need a new clock?

The filters are cheap for the aeropress. I don't use mine often because it's 1 cup, no sh!t, but it does make the best coffee. I bought 2 packs of filters and it will probably last me longer than the press.

The upside down thing is just like it sounds. You put the plunger in the press, turn it upside down, add freshly ground coffee, add your 200 degree water, let it burp and or stir, top off with water, put filter in place, screw on plastic strainer, place right side up over cup using the hex to circle converter toy and let sit for a few seconds and press.

Everything is variable and you will find your preferences for amount of coffee and brew time quickly enough. I think I aim for about an inch of ground coffee and maybe a minute or so from water hitting the coffee to being pressed out.

I had pic's of this about a million years ago. Will post again if needed ... just for you, Barry.

Thanks! I think my wife can figure it out without pics.
I'm no longer allowed to play with hot or sharp things.

Saw you sampled some European mystery meat the other day. How'd that work out?

I had a Svelte James today. It's like a Slim Jim, but classier. :D

No, no ... unheard of to me doesn't make it a mystery. It's called vratina. It's like Canadian bacon but from the neck and smoke dried like pursuitto (sp). I got it up in Toronto. Vacuum sealed makes it okay for transport. They did that for me special. That piece of meat does best in a paper bag in the meat drawer. The bag keeps it from getting too dry too quick. My g/f said it was smelling up the fridge but she knew better than to mess with it. When she griped, I just laughed because bottom line is that she had better not mess with that if she knows what's good for her. :D

I would venture to guess that she seldom messes with your meat.....

I just opened up a dispute with my credit card - the second one ever in 22 years. I backed a Kickstarter project back in mid-2013 (the one with the flashlights for those of you with great memories :D), and they still haven't delivered. They seem to have ripped a lot of people off. I don't expect to get my money back, but I figured it was at least worth asking about. The guy on the live chat was extremely friendly and helpful - made it very easy.

Is that the aircraft aluminum flashlight with the free factory tour or a different one?

That's the one. I would just write it off, but it was $500. That, and the company has upset me in how they've taken people's money and not followed through or even tried to keep in contact.

That's too bad. I thought that looked like a pretty cool package with the tour and everything. I wonder what they're even doing now if they failed to deliver on so many flashlights.

On a brighter kickstarter note, the hybrid valve headphone amplifier seems to be chugging right along. He even added a DAC option. Not that I'm a big believer in super DAC's, I figured what could it hurt. So I opted to wait a little longer, pay a little more and get it with the DAC. He's also upgraded several components, redesigned the PCB layout to accommodate a few added features (free features) and upgraded the packaging to a nice metal case instead of the plastic one.

How does that work... I mean the credit card dispute? You charge something and 2 years later tell the credit card company you didn't get the product? Does the credit card company put some kind of mark against the mfg for future reference?

I'm not sure how this one with work. The credit card rep said that it was old enough that they couldn't hold the merchant accountable. I said that I didn't want to cost them any money if they couldn't get it back from the merchant, and I was just going to drop it right there, but the rep said that this was part of my protection and opened up the dispute. The guy was very nice, and being a fellow Kickstarter fan, he wasn't opening up the dispute without knowing how Kickstarter works. My speculation is that they might be able to influence Kickstarter to look into it, or just ban that merchant. It appears at first blush to be a merchant that got in over their heads, but considering that they are still opening up projects on Massdrop and selling goods on their online store, I think it's just plain fraud.

You reminded me that I need to add some more evidence into the file. Thanks!

"I broke the coffee pot ... "

"The coffee pot is broke ... "

"Honey, you're going to have trouble believing this but Mexicans on horses ran off with our coffee pot ... "

Anyway you look at it the Bonavita is toast. I got out an old glass perculator and tried my hand at that. Pretty f^%&in' good coffee for my first time out. I'm selling this as an upgrade. The Mexicans were bonus.

Good luck. Not to rub it in but it sounds like I dodged a bullet by passing on the kickstarter. :D
