Some unboxing pics from yesterday. I would have posted sooner, but could not resist doing a quick listening session after a one point Audyssey run to get everything playing.

Nicely double boxed with QC results from FR, gloves, feet and material from Ascend,

The speakers are very securely nestled in foam and individually wrapped in a sock,

The following pictures cannot do not do justice to the beauty of the Gloss Cherry finish. They just scream high price/not your average Best Buy product,

The supplied cotton gloves looked like they might have been slippery, so I broke out my super supple leather gloves to protect the finish while securing the speakers onto the stands. I was handling them more gingerly than my newborn LOL!

The finish, I'd give a 9.5 out of 10 because there are some micro scratches. Very difficult to see unless you are looking at a bright ceiling light reflected on the finish. Even then, a polish will easily get rid of them. I can see that the finish is going to be a dust magnet. But, with the lights on, they are just WOW! I'm very happy with the Gloss Cherry choice.

Initial impression on sound, with a dirty one point Audyssey run; Tweeter is absolutely amazing! Stunning improvement over the Behringer monitors actually. Mids are tight. Overall the sound feels more forward than the previous setup yet, at the right volume (speaker and room interaction balance point) they just vanish. I really could not gush over the sound any more. On the flip side, a couple of tracks I liked on the previous setup left me feeling like they sounded like crap.

The new 2.2 when compared to the old 2.1 on the whole seems more subdued, but, everything is better. The trebble is hugely improved, the bass almost seems gone, but, I can tell, it is much much less boomy than before. My brain is rewiring to the huge jump in sound quality.

This weekend will be spent dialing in everything, tidying up the cables and then settling down for some serious listening with a good scotch.

What's that supposed to mean :p
Sorry fuzz. I was thinking of a comment I read a week or so ago about someone disassembling a pair of new, very expensive speakers to mod the crossover. But for the life of me I can't find the damn thing and I don't remember in which thread I saw it. I guess it wasn't you who said it. No disrespect intended to you, nor to whoever actually said what I'm trying to remember...

When I bought my Wii a few years ago, I immediately voided the warranty by hacking it. Fun times, at least that bet payed off for me.

I rooted and flashed my LG G2 with TWRP and CyanogenMod about 6 hours into owning it, but that's about as far into voiding warranties as I generally go.

Back on topic, agarwalro, excellent speaker porn! I felt the same way when I first listened to my MB Quarts. They were so much more revealing than anything I'd ever heard before, it took me a little while to realize what I was hearing.

zieg, yes, they sound better with purple. They're even better with orange, but I usually only go for orange when I'm watching The Lion King with my daughter.

No worries. it's not like I have the compulsive need to take everything I own/buy apart or anything

So your playful jab was unknowingly accurate after all. :D

Hearing good quality speakers is interesting - and can be an adjustment.

However, once you go back for a short listening to lesser quality speakers,
the quality of the new speakers begin to shine more - it does bring a new
level of listening experience.

However on the flip side - there may be some songs/music, that you use to
like, that will now get less playing time, because the poor quality has been
exposed or high-lighted.

Enjoy the new adventure

I got a set of five of these dragon playmats from a Kickstarter campaign. I got them to use as mouse pads, and at first thought they were too thin, but the one that I've been using has worked just great. I've gotten used to using oversized mouse pads, and I really like these. Just thought I'd give a heads up, as you can order them directly from her at that link. (There are larger images available on the Kickstarter page here.)
