Just sent a PM to get put on the list. For those looking for a decent place to stay, Chinook Winds casino has pretty decent rates on ocean view rooms. I just stayed there last weekend after the Joe Cocker concert at Spirit Mountain for 79 bucks.

I plan to be there with my Onix Ref3s, hopefully upgraded with Skiing Ninja XOs.

By the way, another hotel option for those who do not like casinos is the Inn at Spanish Head (http://www.spanishhead.com/). Nice place.

Is the Ninja planning on sticking around for the whole weekend? It would be nice to have him give a little speach on his crossover improvements.

I thought I'd wet your audio appetites a little and tease you with the press release from Von Schweikert Audio. It announces the brand new Vortex VR3 loudspeakers that VSA will be unveiling at our GTG. Pictures will follow when available.

~ Press Release ~

Vortex Screen VR-3 Soon Available!

June 24, 2009 Murrrieta, Ca. Albert Von Schweikert, the designer of the legendary Vortex Screen of 1970’s fame, has redesigned the classic 3-way system for the new millennium. In addition to the state-of-the-art technology used to update this model, a new marketing program will be used to enable almost anyone to purchase this new model at an affordable price, Factory Direct and Online.

• State- of- the- art cabinet build quality – heavily damped Triple-wall construction, honeycomb internal wall bracing, and 100% cavity damping to eliminate all audible forms of cabinet coloration. Compare to build quality at 10x our price.

• High quality transducers – since the speaker can sound only as good as its component parts, the three transducers are built to extremely high quality standards. An aluminum-coned 10” woofer is used, with a 6” paper mid and 1.5” Dual Ring tweeter. These exact drivers can be found in systems costing up to 10x our Factory Direct price. In fact, the 6” midrange is used by a famous maker in his $150,000 flagship speaker system!

• Expert crossover design – rather than using an inexpensive computer sound card with inexpensive soft ware to design the crossover system, Albert Von Schweikert has utilized his 32 years of experience in the electronics industry, combined with a $10,000,000 lab to design and perfect the elaborate crossover used in the new Vortex VR-3 speaker design. This new speaker design was engineered to sound like a “one way” system with amazing integration.

• Cost-effective engineering – As most audiophiles want the most “bang for the buck” in these challenging times, we have not wasted precious fabrication dollars on useless cosmetic features or expensive paint jobs that cost more than the sum total of the transducers. In some “exotic” and highly advertised brand name systems, the cosmetics and paint finish are 90% of the total cost of the system!

• Although this speaker could easily sell in stores for $15,000 in a painted or veneered cabinet, our Factory Direct selling price is projected to be $3,500/pr.

• No risk trial - For your utmost in satisfaction, we offer a 90-day refund policy, with only a 10% restocking fee. Call for the estimated ship date.

Dennis Murphy, the crossover guru (I'm sure he'll detest that appellation) for the Salk Songtowers (and many more loudspeakers) has confirmed that he'll be attending. So all you tech-types save up your questions for the October 10 meet!

And just a little taste of some of the new items making the debut at this gig.

The new EMP Impression Series speakers in beautiful piano red burl.

Here's the tower:

Here's the powered subwoofer:

These are the same speakers that made special appearance at the October 2008 Audioholics SOTU Show. The one that we saw last October were just the prototype demo models. But even then they made everybody stop and stare.

Sure are workin' it aren't ya loser!
We only hire the BEST promoters! Majorloser even held back some cool info about the potential for other brand new speakers to be unveiled at the event. He's still only in first gear. Take that, SBF1! :)

But there is one bit of bad news on the GTG front. I just heard from Dennis Murphy that his "other" hobby is taking priority. Unfortunately, he just discovered that he'll be in the middle of a concert the weekend of the GTG. Dennis is a concert violinist of some repute. It will be up to Jim Salk to hold down the SalkSound fort out here. (But I think he'll do a good job! ;))

We are adding new people to the list almost every day. Please feel free to look at the list to see where everybody is traveling from. There are quite a few attendees that might be willing to put together a carpool to help save some on gas. It never hurts to send a PM and ask. :)
