everything is expensive compared to 22 lol
My dad just got a small glock for concealed carry. I forget what the number is, but its a 45. Thing is sweet, lots of fun to shoot, too bad 45 rounds are so expensive, at least compared to all the 22s we have. The trigger took some getting used to, I got used to it way before he did, he couldn't get over how long the pull was before the break because of the trigger safeties.
Honestly, I'm not sure I'd even want more than one 45 pistol, they're just too expensive to shoot. Then I'm in NY and the stuff you have to go through just to get a pistol permit is.........frustrating at best.

Tell me about it lol
Add to that the way I like to burn through rounds and I can't afford to shoot anything but 22s.
I've owned my Henry rifle 22 for about 3 months and I've gone through about 5 bricks of 22 ammo. I don't even want to think what that would cost if it were 45
Well, if you want to go to the range and have fun shooting tons of rounds cheaply, a 22 is a good choice. But if you want to carry a weapon for protection (or have one at the home for protection), something larger would be a smarter choice. Just practice with it every once in awhile so you're familiar with it![]()

Not bad advice at all, however I don't need a range. I live out in the woods, I've been known to shoot off the back porch when I'm feeling really lazy
To me, living in "civilization" will never outweigh being able to shoot when I want, play music/movies as loud as I want, and not have to worry about being robbed..........except by bears.![]()
Haha. I wish I had that luxury![]()

.22 is nice and cheap down at the WalmartThat's what we generally shoot in the back yard too, and yes it is EASY to go through a brick in a very short time, but totally worth it.. I DO have that luxury also
Went to the range with my buddy on Wed. and went through two boxes of 9mm and two of .40 very quick.
I was looking at XDs and rented the XD 9 5" on Wed. I liked it, but I wasn't totally sold on it. Going back this Wed. to try a few others.

Are you sure which side of the glass you are on?
You know you like shooting too much when you start with enough ammo to make you say "**** this is heavy!" when you start, then 20 mins later (depending on how fast you are at reloading) you're wondering where all you're ammo went.
"Too much fun? What's that mean?
It's like too much money, there's no such thing
It's like a girl too pretty, with too much class
Being too lucky, a car too fast
No matter what they say I've done
I ain't never had too much fun"

I'm a huge HK USP fan as well...I don't think there is a sweeter shooting stock polymer pistol out there than the upper end USP models. I had a P30 but sold it to upgrade to a USP Expert 40 cal; best shooting pistol I have ever shot, able to put hole on hole at 10 yards no problem. Even better than the HK Mark 23 I tried out/rented at a local range. I love my USP Expert!
I love my Glock 20C too though! I just recent got a used KKM barrel with 4 port compensator for it and man it shoots really sweet now! A 10mm pistol that feels like a 9mm when you shoot and has no real muzzle rise at all - and that's shooting full power DoubleTap Ammunition loads! It won't put bullet on bullet like the USP Expert, but still accurate and fast to shoot...and FUN! Just need to send it out for grip reduction and stippling job by a local guy who does great work and it will be complete.
fuzz092888, Glock 36 I'm guessing? I didn't particularly like the trigger pull on it at all - it is the heaviest pull weight for a Glock. Nice thing about Glocks though is they are sooo easy, simple, and cheap to change out the internals and completely tear down without any armorers tools. $30 and 10 minutes will have a great upgrade in trigger pull with spring kit and lighter connector while still having the Glock reliability. And you definitely need something more than a .22LR caliber pistol if you don't want to be robbed by bears...![]()
.22LR is definitely great for getting lots of shooting practice in on the cheap before you switch to the centerfire pistols. Still, 9mm is not too bad a caliber for compromise if you don't have a .22LR pistol. It's just ~ 5 times as expensive as .22LR (for good quality .22LR ammo) so you just shoot 5x as less rounds to keep the costs the same -that is still quite a few rounds and plenty of practice! And if you reload you can even further reduce the cost. I don't have a .22LR pistol, but do have a CZ 75 SP-01 Phantom for my 9mm and I really like it - though it could use a little work to smooth out and lighten the pull.

Ordered my new pistol yesterday. S&W M&P 9. 10 day waiting period in California is the spectacularly boring part. Went to the range and tried a few guns and liked this one for the price. This will be my "plenty of rounds" gunThe other .22s are just plinkers.
While we were there, the g/f was looking around and we shot this also. M&P 15-22. She ended up buying one
We shot the USP compact in 9 last week and neither of us were fans of it. Probably should have shot the full size.
