Alain: Most impressive! I'm sure we'd all like to know two things:

    1) Did you do the design (visual and acoustical) yourself or use a pro consultant?

    2) Directions to your place. I'll bring chips.

Big props to your father-in-law, too!

    Rip.

It was a mix of both pros and ''amateurs''. For the acoustic, I have a friend acoustician that did help me planning the room, dimensions, speakers and sub placement, dealing with nodes and null, viewing distance, room treatments, broadband absorbers, Behringer BFD ''house-curve''. And with alot of help from the ETF5 software particularly, and alot other softwares also .... And I did also hire a contractor to do the ''basics'': electricity, framing, drywall (mudding, taping...), riser (''half'' the job) ... and the carpet was installed by a pro also.

But I did the rest alone with my father-in-law: stage, riser, furring strips, broadband absorbers, OC 703 and polybatting installation, GOM, framing and moulding, hush-box, projector installation, equipement installation and connections.

    It was alot of fun!

And the best part is, even if the end-result is looking good (WAF seal of approval), the AQ and PQ were the priority, so the audio and video quality is also top-noch! And my wife is proud to show that room to her lady friends, and even to her interior designer!

Here's a list of the audio and video equipment in this room for those interested:

And BTW, I live up north in Quebec in the big white, at 6-7 hours by car up north of Montreal... But if you are up for the trip (I mean if you are the adventurious type), don't forget the chips and the beer!
