I love having two subs, I thought one was good, but having two really makes a big difference.

Have you ordered yours yet?
dapack69, I've read a few comments about these models with regards to the fact that they run very hot. Is that the case with yours? I'm thinking of getting an Antec A/V cooling system to keep it cool.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure, but from what I read so far, the newer Onkyo receivers seem to start their fans quicker than the older models (from a lower temperature treshold).

Anyway, a cooling fan on top is a good idea anyway, and from a great receiver with a lot of power, you ameliore it's longetivity and performance. :)

I agree Lordoftherigns, the Onkyos have an internal fan??? Nothing about this in the user manual though?!?!

In any case, I made my A/V rack myself and it has a hole on the bottom to let air in (conduction). My RX-V2600 was always well ventilated and I'm sure this will help for the TX-NR3007. The Antec cooler is there for insurance. :D

I bought my wood and fabric for the sound diffusers I am building today. Hoping to post some pictures of the room before and after sometime tomorrow (depending on how many beers I will be having hehehehe). I have my new toy next to me and I am loving it already. It is NICE!!!!

Heavy too!!!

Be well guys!!!

Mine does not really get that hot. I can hold my hand on top of the unit all day long.

I do have mine on the bottom shelf in the open, its not enclosed in a cabinet, this might make a difference. There is a way to read the temperature on the unit, you hold the display button and hit standby button at the same time, release and than hit the setup button. You will see the temperature displayed, like I said in another post. The hottest I have seen mine is 99*.

If I did have mine stored in a cabinet I would get a fan to be on the safe side, when you pay this much money for an item I like to play safe,

If you go to the Onkyo website and look under features it shows a push/pull design. This means it has an internal fan.

My Onkyo 805 and 876 have two fans inside (in each of them), so your 3007 has at least one fan, and I wouldn't be surprise if it has two of them.
And the 3007 weights 55.1 lbs (25 kg).
With 9 power amplifiers in it, it can draw a total of 11.6 amperes from your wall!

* Enjoy... :) And be careful with that Volume dial. ;)

I can see our electric bills going up $100 a month now just by using this daily.

No kidding!

Maybe not $100/month, but more than usual for sure (the volume level has a lot to do with that).

Onkyo TX-NR3007 vs Yamaha RX-Z7

Little different spin on this queston. Looking to purchase a receiver to replace my very old Yamaha RX-V2095. Right now the Onkyo 3007 is available for $1,179 and the Yamaha Z7 can be purchased for $1,250 so close to the same price. My speakers are all Def Tech (2) BP-10's, (4) DR-7's, a CLR 1000 & 2 BP-2's with a 1500 sub. My music is all saved on the computer so quality wireless access is essential.

Both units seem to be excellent choices. It seems my question is whether the quality of the Yamaha is so superior that it is worth giving up the two extra amplified channels and the ability to send a separate program to a zone two or three? I have already come to the conclusion that I will give up too much in quality to purchase one of the newer units with HDMI 1.4a. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I am curious to know how you concluded that, did you compare their THD, S/N ratio and other sonic qualities that audiophiles often refer to, or you meant built quality, reliability etc? If it is the former, we are not talking about something like an Audio Research kind of preamp so I doubt you would have given up anything noticeable if anything at all, but I am going to check out and compare their specs before drawing my own conclusion ( base on the technical side & on paper only).

If I am not mistaken the Z7 allows you to shut off the power amp section whether that would result in audible difference I am not sure. My guess is, probably not, to most people. It is a good feature though for sure and that would be a + on the Z7 side if the 3007 does not have the same.

Onkyo TX-NR3007 vs Yamaha RX-Z7

The reviews for both units have been very strong. I am concerned with quality of sound as well as reliability. The complete review in Audioholics was incredible for the Z7. Their also seemed to be a lot of posts on the Z7 with issues, mostly resolved later with firmware updates. The specs for both the 3007 and the Z7 are very good and the rated/claimed power is identical at 140 W. I am really hoping for personal experience. I have not been able to compare the two units side by side. Also I have never owned an Onkyo but my brother was quite happy with his. Thank you
