Was just curious. don't need any New avr. My Yamaha A1080 still going strong 5+ year's! Don't need no added fan! What's those avr's that heat up hot and need a fan placed on top? Has a high failure rate. Oh yeah stinky smelly gotta buy extra arc. Reliably issues poor CS, alway being sold off in and out of bankruptcy... poor Denon huh, poor Onkyo huh. Kinda like the NFL Cleveland Browns team huh. But hey, Denon sure has a Dog Pound fanbozs base.

Well, now that SAMSUNG owns Sound United and Harman, I am hoping everything will improve even more.

Samsung is among the biggest companies in the world. I think they must have some really smart people working for them.

Yamaha $20 Billion

I wonder why Samsung didn’t also buy Onkyo/Integra and Pioneer. They have the money.

@Tankini Did Denon have any real amount of negativeness? Those that had an issue, were that many??? Do you read much about the good. Are 5 units out of 5 thousand, that big of a deal, for any mfg?

@AcuDefTechGuy Denon will probably continue to operate as in the past. Or what changes need to be made at Denon? Anything really wrong at Denon? Maybe marketing? Can anyone prove Denon's quality needs improvement? How do you think Denon can make money? With our current economy, the past 2 years, will there be that many new or returning customers to the AVR market?

I predict, Denon will be laying off more people, in the next couple of months, with less and less sales. The mother boards are probably mfg'd in China, and with less sales, comes downsizing.

Best Buy has been struggling the past 3 years, and closing stores like so many, in today's economy. An AVR is a huge luxury item, these days. Will Samsung eventually use DENON as a write off?? Time will tell.

D&M AVR's run Hot - any AVR that runs hot is likely to have a more limited lifespan, as everything in there that gets hot will be more highly stressed... and highly stressed systems are more likely to fail.

That's why several of us have been recommending over several years, the installation of fans on top of them and adequate surrounding space.

I tend to agree with you on the subject of owning an AVR. People buy this type of thing on a buy once, and don't up-date unless they have too.
The thing is in todays economy, there are many ways to access music, And actually buying a CD or a vinyl record is the last thing on there minds
when they can get the same thing for free via a computer down load, So any sort of home amplification is more or less obsolete.

As you say Hi Fi retailers are closing down fast simply because sales are just about non-existent, This also applies to Hi Fi Music shows,/venue's
like Rocky Mountain Audio Fest [ RMAF ] are closing due to lack of interest, or the high cost for the exhibitor, who relies on sales to cover there costs.
No exhibitor is going to gamble in transporting his products to a show , pay exhibition fee's, pay accommodation, pay staff plus food and fuel. And
then going home without making any sales. The result is financial suicide.

AVR, AVP, Amps, Speakers, Subs, Projectors, Screens are all luxury items. Prices have always increased. And people still spend a lot of money to buy these luxury items.

Buyers gonna buy.

I can’t recall what @M Code said, but it’s something about how selling AVR’s isn’t even the main target of these giant $200-billion-revenue companies. They will sell enough.

I ran my Onkyo/Integra AVR's which ran hot (previous generations) in open space... and at one point also tried fans mounted on top - ultimately they still fried themselves... I should have opened them up and fitted heatsinks.

I've owned many Onkyo AVR's in the past. Denon is solid AVR's. Was just trying to get this old thread going a bit is all. Lots own Denon, Onkyo, Marantz etc, Denon does have a very good room correction software. I myself do Not use any correction software.

I"m sorry, but I think your delusional in your thinking, The standard brands of AVR are simply cheap and nasty, Sure they do
a job, until they don't. There build // mass produced on a very small budget, There power supplies are restricted to work
on, with no latitude. as cheap as possible. Quality power supplies cost money, and in some cases mega money. Really you
only get what you pay for.. Or as some would say " Pay Peanuts, Get Monkeys ".

It goes without saying I don't own an AVR. I use a AVP in my theatre set up, in conjunction with a Rotel 5 channel Power amp.
But using a Pre// power system can be funded on a budget if you look for used components. An early system I had used Rotel
Pre amp [ RC 1070 ] together with a pair of power amps [ RB 1070 ] set up in mono bloc, Producing something like 350 watts each.

My main system is all Cyrus With a Cyrus pre, a Curus top load CD player, both use external power supplies, and a pair of Cyrus
Mono Blocks. Making a six box system.

I've also got a pair of vintage Marantz [ made in Japan ] mono bloc's [MA6100] waiting for a system,

But the thing is once you buy quality You don't go back or update every couple of years

Well I can understand using separates for your main system.

But what about for other applications that aren't as "critical" or "important" as your main system? Like a room or living room that you only sometimes use?

My wife would sing karaoke in our bedroom and we have parties which can involve signing karaoke in the living room. Surely, you wouldn't need to use separates for karaoke or casual TV?
