Well as said above, it’s about the overall subwoofer system as much as the driver size. Iirc you have 120sw’s. They are only rated down to 29hz. While they may shake the house, you’re missing a lot of much deeper content. For example, the pb1000 pro is also a 12” sub, but goes much deeper than the Klipsch do. They may be more linear and controlled as well. Also keep in mind that deep bass has to be present in the content. Some have a lot, and some don’t. Some movies roll off at 25hz, and some go down to 10hz. Or even deeper!
Damn, I already thought my subs were pretty good. But one can dish out thousands to tens of thousands of dollars on speakers. I got mine for about $1k each canadian

Oh boy, yeah. I had 12" Klipsch subs and there's no comparison with my current 15" HSUs. It made a world of difference.
What did those cost?

I have my subs about 6db louder than the rest of my system. I used my new spl meter to test this out. ☺ Anyone having their subs hotter than this?

They've gone up a bit since I bought mine, but they're still about the best bang for buck out there right now for a big powerful sub. I got their "DualDrive" package and saved a little bit buying 2 at the same time.

They have a really good 12" sub too, also capable of hitting below 20 hz in a decent sized room.

I run mine hot too.

According to that chart, by about 5 or 6 dB! Looks like we like the same bass boost!

*Edit: to @AcuDefTechGuy's point, most of my boost is in the 25 to 30 hz range!

Well, your subs are pretty good. It’s just that in the world of subwoofers, there are options that can give you better performance. And not necessarily for a lot more than the ones you have. The thing is, ya don’t know what ya don’t know. But once you experience it, it’s hard to go back. I was there too. 25hz JBL subs, and thought Terminator was rockin my house. Then when I got my first big boy sub and Kong shook the couch in a totally different way, I was hooked. My friend owns two car audio stores, and I’ve experienced all kinds of punishing bass. There’s just nothing like real ULF.
Hope you didn’t take anything I said as an attack or anything. I was only trying to give you an idea of things in regards to your question about the 15’s. Unfortunately the answer isn’t nearly as simple as 12 vs 15. I don’t know Canadian pricing, but iirc for 1k each, a pair of PC2k pros would open your eyes! Of course there are other options like @Pogre ‘s HSU or monolith and Rythmik etc. But don’t know about availability to you.

You don't know what you don't know. So true.

I was perfectly happy with my smaller subs and really dubious I'd gain much, but I let these guys talk me into it. The first test track I tried after getting set up totally blew my balls off. I'd just never experienced it before. That said, a decent sub capable to 30 hz is not a bad thing at all. That's pretty deep in terms of audibility and that's when you can really start feeling it in your guts.

If someone is going to ask what difference a bigger sub can make is very dependent on the subwoofer. The frequency response and spl capabilities are really what you want to look at. The size of the room is a huge factor too. Altho SVS make some 12 - 13" subs that can absolutely pound out super deep, super clean bass even in large rooms.

@jakkedtide, what subs do you have now? Are they a pair of Klipsch R-120SW's? How big is your room? They are rated from 29 - 120 hz. There are other 12" models that will dig deeper like the SVS PB1000 Pro that would make a pretty big difference. So it's not always about the size so much as the tuning. I have 15s because my room is so big I need that volume of air movement. If my room were smaller I could get the same performance with a pair of 12s. Or more multiple 12s. Four PC2000s in all 4 corners of my current room would be pretty outstanding too!

I remember when you talked about four PC’s. That would be pretty ok. Lol.
I think you are good though.

Well, it is always a good thing to have experienced better or more expensive options, whether they are speakers or subs or electronics, like the new Yamaha RX-A8A.

Did you guys see how I'm trying to stay ON-TOPIC with this thread? :D

Don't just take people's words for it.

Just like with speakers, audition bigger and more power subs and see for yourself what others are talking about. If they don't really sound THAT much better than your current subs, then you will KNOW.

What!?!?!?! I thought this thread being off topic was a actually keeping ON topic lol. I don’t mind the side road, but maybe if jakkedtide is considering upgrades, a new thread would be in order.

Okay, now you're just trying to start a fight posting a DENON picture in a YAMAHA thread! :D

Just way out of line here. :D
Or maybe Yamaha could've made their front display like this.:D Best in Class, AVP-A,(R) Front Display.

But since they can't get their firmware updated and get their advertised product actually working properly, the least they can do is slap some lipstick on that hog!
Don’t forget the perfume!

Then Yamaha would have to charge an extra $1,000. :D
Crutchfield indicates that the CX-A5200 and MX-A5200 are now discontinued. Could it mean that the CX-A5300 and MX-A5300 (or whatever new model#s the future revs will have) are on their way?

I bet Yamaha is working on them. But they probably won't release them until they have worked out any bugs on the current RX-A8A AVR.

Yes those are the ones I have. I have two of them. My room is about 15 x 20. The couch is about 15ft from tv. My subs are new and an improvement from my previous cheaper klipsch 12 inch subs.
