I've been reading up on BT cans lately, mostly at Head-fi and a few other sites.

The general consensus is that these AKG 845BT phones are pretty much the best BT phones as far as neutral uncolored sound quality is concerned.

Those little ones I got for ten bucks are amazing. I was like they will be decent, but no better than expected. I mean your will beat them, but for casual wireless they are nice. Yep HeadFi is a place I visit once in a while. Hence my headphone collection. :) Can't wait for your review. :)

You know, I just never really could get into headphones. Then, I realized it was just the WIRE that was cumbersome to me.

I know that the BT phones will lose some quality as compared to wired cans, and they are more expensive for less sound quality since $ must go to the BT electronics and probably licensing.

But, it's all a moot point if I buy a fancy set of cans and then just sit them on the shelf! Once I tried the E40BT wireless phones, there is no going back to wired for me (for the most part, I am still an AH'er through and through)

My ATH M50x wired set have been used probably 15 times in 2 years! When I do use them, it's usually just to hook up to the headphone output on my Drum Machine

Added an NAD T758 receiver, a factory refurbished unit with full warranty and in complete factory packaging from an authorized NAD dealer. Gave the outgoing Denon AVR-1912 to my younger son, as it still works great. This one sounds so much cleaner and smoother to me, more power and sounds perfect even at upper reaches of the volume range. It has a certain "air" with many recordings that I simply never heard before.

I also auditioned an Anthem MXR510, but the video kept blacking out, and the ARC software (running on a Win 8 PC) went through 90% of the 5 listening positions three times, crapping out on the last each time. I gave up on that but gave it a fair shake in 2.1 with manual SPL meter settings. It was more powerful than the NAD, but just a little to "cold and clinical" for my liking as compared to the NAD.

Very happy!

Sale for 25. Has garnered great reviews, so why not:

+ 10 feet cord so I can use my JBL more often:
Arrived these sound nice right out the box. Doing some burn in time now so the drivers can open up more. Yeah I know most of yall disagree with this method.

I felt the same way for many years. I had to succumb though. My older son was living here, not working and I wanted him out. He would spend all his days in his bedroom playing games on the interweb and frustration set in. I cut the cord to upstairs and added wireless so I could access elsewhere in the house. Having gotten smartphones, my wife a laptop PC and a tablet all in 2012 exacerbated the problem, so it made sense. He managed to coerce the network password out of his mother or younger brother and continued until he moved out last week...to his younger brother's house. I hope he has better luck motivating the elder.

I went for the HD 598's too.
I won't get as much use out of them as I should, but I've always wanted a serious set of headphones.

Ken, Can I come hang out in your spare room? (Adam will expect you to bring him beers, I'll get my own. On the other hand, Adam has a pretty cool dog and he's house-trained...the dog, not Adam!).

What is everyone using to drive the Senn598?

My easiest option is the headphone out on my USP-1 Pre.

You guys are funny. And, you would NOT want to live here! If the 3 cats don't bother you, perhaps the incumbent crazy cat lady (my wife) would.

I should get a set of those Sennheisers now that I have a receiver with a 1/4" jack on the front. Where did you source them? I had a set of Beyerdynamic I bought in 1989, haven't seen them in 10 years.

Of course the price would go UP for "Cyber Monday"...so folks shopping on the interweb can "save money."

Nuts. I would have found the money for those.
