The shenanigans in the Senate were just politics as usual. If the House of Reps are serious, they would assign the fact finding to a federal court. They probably won't do that because they don't get to preen in front of the cameras that way.
Fair or not, there are not enough Americans that believe that insurrection is the right word to describe Jan 6. Especially on the heels of a summer of riots in 2020 with billions in property damage. Nor do they think that Jan 6 can be compared to Pearl Harbor or 9/11.
I would agree that Jan 6 can't be compared to Pearl Harbor or 9/11, because those two attacks weren't existential threats to American democracy.

I suppose it's possible the Republicans are simply trying to keep Trump's voters. Any objection to that and their signaling blue. Ted probably thought it was an opportunity for some presidential points. Tucker didn't find it funny.

Exactly. Further to that, if Trump doesn't run, the Republican candidate will still need to get Trump's endorsement.

Ted is probably done. He's in too deep of a ditch now.

Don't be too hopeful. Professor Tribe's comment about Congress is spot on. ""Congress will need to go further, either by establishing a neutral fact-finding body to determine whether Trump engaged in insurrection under Section 3, or assigning that fact-finding role to a federal court."

The Jan 6 committee is made up of 7 Ds and 2 Rs so no fair thinking person thinks it is legitimate, and most Americans are fair thinking.

Either way, they get better get a move on because the Ds are polling badly for Nov 22. The committee might be out of a job in Jan 23. IMO, the voters will be more concerned about Covid and Inflation than what happened on Jan 6.
The committee is legitimate unless you're a traitor.

Yes and Speaker Pelosi having the cast of Hamilton perform Jan 6th perfectly captured the somber memory of the day.

Why would he run? He is just gobbling up the $$$$$$ right now pretending to run and most likely can keep it. Two more years may eat him up.

I'll up you one.....;)

GOP Reps. Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene held a press conference marking one year since the Capitol riot Thursday where they promoted a fringe conspiracy theory that the federal government was behind the deadly events that day.

It was a "Fedsurrection" LOL.

Yeah I highly doubt Trump's returning. The slush fund or this one he's probably gonna keep it.

For a brief second I actually have to give him credit for calling them "terrorists." The problem for the right media is he DID call them terrorists, so Tucker has to go after him. Think I lost my stomach when they said Tucker wants to run for president one day. Wait, I thought I'd seen the worst already? Oh nevermind.

Probably as legitimate as the committees that tried to impeach for 4 years with no evidence. There actually was evidence. Of course it was against their party so no follow up.
If you're talking about the Dems trying to tie Trump to the Russian conspiracy in 2016 then I'd agree. Trump wanting an investigation into Hunter Biden (ie to damage Joe's 2020 chances) then I'd probably disagree. The acquittal following the '20 election scam no I'd disagree there too.

You think it was OK for Biden to withhold a billion $ to the UK because of Hunter? Biden was seen on video admitting (and bragging) about it. That is more evidence than a dozen witnesses who could only SUPPOSE that they knew Trump's intent in his conversation.

Two reasons recent events in Kazakhstan are interesting:
1. This illustrates what a traditional coup looks like.
2. Guess who was involved up to his ears in Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and this was fairly well known in foreign policy circles before this particular article?

For fun, factual or not, just substitute Bush or Trump for Hunter and imagine how the Media would have covered it versus the 5 year coverage of the Pee Pee dossier.

Right before the 2020 election, the Hunter history was buried deeper than the treasure on Oak Island by the media, twitter, et al. Can anyone say with a straight face that this would not have impacted the 2020 election?

Below info from Open Secrets on the Annenberg Foundation, the main donor to FactCheck.org for the 2020 election cycle. Other donors, Facebook, Google. The donations are from individual members, employees, owners of Fact Check, not the organization. Not a lot of money but biased in their fact checking? Probably.

Yes I did, but your idea of a traditional coup deflects from Jan 6th. That the right media are still pushing for a return to the Orange Man says a lot about them. Aye yai yai.....

The conservative media are pushing for Trump. What, gambling in the Casino!? Been that way since the dawn of the Republic.
90% of the content media is "left" wing. More importantly, it controls the main pipelines to that content that most Americans use. Twitter, Facebook, Google etc.. They control the narrative.
What candidates do the left wing media push?
What does the Left wing media push for? Circle wagons around Biden, Clinton, Pelosi (fill in the blank Dem or RINO, or other Useful Idiot....., Covid naturally came from the bat cave..)
Censorship, centralization of power to Washington politicians and billionaires? Smells like Corporatism, maybe?
Says a lot about them too. We are not in the club...
To help finish your phrase in proper Mexican Spanish.....Aye yai yai, es un cagada!
Maybe I'll have an expresso now..

Yes, it says that they are concerned about the downfall of the USA since 1-6-2020.
An easy question for you. What has Biden done for the good of the USA since taking office?

Nothing, but that doesn't mean I''m going to obfuscate Jan 6th either.
