They had a Sam Adams Cream Stout on Nitro that I wanted to try. It's one of Sam's better beers. I never got around to it.

I definitely have my eye on a Founders drive in a couple years. Problem for me is after the first beer tastings usually aren't as accurate. Especially with an IPA. If you are ever in Texas Real Ale has a very nice setup.

Try going from least bitter to most bitter and low ABV to high. I'll generally drink an IPA after a stout. A high IBU beer tends to mess up palate up before trying other beers.

It took me months to find it here. Well, it would help if I ventured away from the same store, I suppose. I found it at Trader Joe's. La Chouffe is better, IMO, but more difficult to get here. La Fin du Monde is a decent replacement. I like both better than Duvel for the price. Duvel is quite drinkable, but not worth the price to me.

My store is close and I like the people. Why would I go anywhere else? I'm glad someone else understands that! There is huge, multi level liquor store by my work, but I'm too tired to stop in after work.

Today, April 7, is known throughout the beer world as Brew Year's Eve (NOT National Beer Day, as some coattail riders would have you believe). 81 years ago today, in 1933, President Roosevelt took the first step toward ending Prohibition, and signed the Cullen-Harrison Act law into effect, allowing people to brew, sell, and consume beer no greater than 3.2% alcohol by weight (or 4% ABV, as it is measured today.)

So raise a toast today in honor of this landmark legislation, effectively ending the misguided disaster that was Prohibition.

Spent some time at a water park with the family....my reward, got to visit two breweries today:

Beard's Brewery: Beards Brewery
Cool little joint that has a great vibe to it. I plan on visiting again. Had a Kilted Scots Ale that I enjoyed.

Petoskey Brewing: Petoskey Brewing - A Michigan Microbrewery. Join us in our Tap Room to experience made-on-premiss hand-crafted beer and light food offerings!
Cool old building with a lot of brewing history to it. Had a North 45 Amber Ale which was decent, nothing really exciting.

A fine day in the Midwest. Maybe I should say 'finally' a fine day in the Midwest. Time to sit outside and enjoy a double dead guy.

I thought it was good. Lots of complex flavors going on. A sweetness that was a surprise and leads to my not going back to purchase more. Worth a try for something different though.
