I forgot about the Stone "Enjoy By", another good one, and obviously tough to find. They also have a GoTo IPA that is worth a try, I had it on tap in DC, but never seen it in TX :(

I have not tried the Mayor, now I'll have to try to find it!

Founders Centennial....it's pretty good, I just don't see that it's worth putting on my personal list of the best.

Since you are in the DFW area, look out for the Deep Ellum IPA. It's pretty tasty and it is more similar than different as compared to Fire Eagle (though FE is better). And, I just picked up a 4-pack of Deep Ellum Dream Crusher Double IPA. It is pretty tasty too, but I think I prefer the DE IPA.
Deep Ellum IPA is certainly a damn good beer, but I definitely like Founder's and even Lost Gold a little better. I think Founder's does a great job of giving you more than just a hops kick and that's one of the reasons I'm high on their beer. To me they always bring a little more dimension to the flavor than a lot of brewers do. Now that Cherry Chocolate Double Brown Stout was definitely may favorite Deep Ellum.

The Mayor is only served on Tap at Fitiger's Brewhouse in Duluth, Minnesota. It was an incredible beer and I did leave with a growler.

Of course right now it's pumpkin beer season so I'm not really in much of an IPA mood as of late. I missed it last year and am determined not to miss it this year. I was able to get a bottle of Rumpkin too!

It's Octoberfest season!

I love these seasonal beers!

I know I like Sam Adams Octoberfest so I took in supply of that but, on a whim, I picked up a six-pack each of the seasonal offerings from Shiner and Yuengling. So, I see a shoot out coming pretty soon.

More to come...

Go- To was my summer session IPA - good stuff!
Lagunitas Day time and Founders All-Day good too.
I don't get founders here though, get in Fla when I'm down there 12 weeks a year :)

Be sure to try the Shiner Cheer beer when it comes out. It was excellent IMO.

Lagunitas definitely has some very good beers. I think my favorite has to be Brown Shugga, dang good beer (when they make it). Also, Maximus and Hop Stoopid are good beers. In particular, the price/quality of Hop Stoopid has to make it one of the best "cheaper" hoppy beer bomber bottles on the market.

Several years ago, Lagunitas paired up with Blue Dog Rescue to take over one of the local bars. They had several Lagunitas on tap FOR FREE! If I remember, I think you had to buy one of the Lagunitas mason jar glasses. And, they had several Casks in a tent outside that you had to pay for, but stuff like Cask Conditioned Maximus!!!

The owner was there to schmooz with the Lagunitas fans, and he would come around to the tables to be sure to tell everyone to go to the bar and get some free Lagunitas.

Needless to say, the GF had to drive my drunk a$$ home that night :D

The last event I went to was Rahr 5k at Oktoberfest and while I love beer being a bit hungover at 6pm just feels wrong. To be fair I think it was the mimosa. Have you been to Big Texas Beer fest?

I don't really care for coke but I do like the mexican stuff :)
Man, that stuff is great! Real sugar is the s**t. I know it doesn't transport as well, but dang, it does make a difference.

Btw, your hand makes you look like a 60-year-old dude in that photo. :p

I've had two "Hop Rising Double IPA" made by Squatters Craft Beers. It's the second six pack that I've bought of it. At 9%, it's pretty strong, but I must have eaten enough that it hasn't really hit me. I'm still thirsty, but I don't feel like being hung over tomorrow...

Lately I've been drinking scotch, bourbons and whisk(e)ys. I found out I have a taste for these complex, in most cases anyway, type spirits. I started with a $10.00 bottle of Evan Williams 1783 which was very tasty. I moved up to $20.00 and got a bottle of Old Weller from Buffalo Trace. After the Old Weller, I knew my whiskey journey was on. I got a bottle of Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage, also very good, with a bit more complexity than what i had tried so far. Then, I got a bottle of Elijah Craig 12 year old bourbon for $25.00 and finished up, for now, with a $25.00 bottle of Larceny which I'm drinking now. The Elijah Craig is very, very good and so far my favorite.

I have had few scotches in between as well. New Years Eve I had a pour of The Macallan 12 year old. It was complex with smoke and salt flavors, yet a very affable scotch. I couldn't wait to take the next drink. I had a real peat bomb in Bruichladdich that I could hardly finish. A little to advanced for my palate.

For someone new to these brown liquors, I'm happy with all my choices so far. I'm looking forward to trying some Irish whiskeys that go beyond what is offered by the ubiquitous Jameson's. I've ordered a bottle of Red Breast 12 (same distillery as Jameson's) year old from my local liquor store and I'm looking forward to trying that.

Anyone else a brown liquor lover? Any suggestions on what to try? I found Ralfy and have come to trust his reviews.

Class action law suit filed against Anheuser Busch and other brewers for deceptive labeling. Also, if you're a whisky or vodka drinker Balcones, Maker's Mark, and Tito's are also being sued

In addition to Kirin, the faux imports below are all brewed in the U.S.:

Beck’s. Like Kirin, this Anheuser-Busch InBev-owned brand is the subject of a class-action lawsuit claiming deceptive marketing because the labels use phrases such as “Originated in Germany” and “German Quality.” Beck’s is actually brewed in 15 different countries, including the U.S., so the Beck’s you buy in this country was most likely produced here.

Foster’s Lager. Billed as a “uniquely Australian beer” by corporate parent Texas for years. British pub patrons may also be surprised to know that the Foster’s on tap there is made in Manchester, England, not Down Under.

Killian’s Irish Red. In fairness, MillerCoors lists the Killian’s brand under the category of “Craft” rather than “Import.” But craft beer insiders wouldn’t call Killian’s either. The Killian’s website runs through the history of the brand, which originated in with “the first batch of Enniscorthy Ruby Ale” made by George Killian himself in Ireland. It glosses over how the name was purchased in the 1980s by Coors, and that it’s been brewed in Colorado for decades.

Red Stripe. When sold in the U.S., the iconic grenade bottles of Red Stripe used to feature the word “Imported” on its label. But starting in 2012, when production for the U.S. market was switched from Jamaica to Wisconsin, the Diageo-Guinnness-owned beer dropped the “I” word and tweaked the label to reflect its status as merely a “Jamaican Style Lager.” Nonetheless, plenty of drinkers assume it’s still made and imported from the Caribbean.

I'm not surprised by the info at all. I am kind of surprised to see the class action lawsuit.
