Trump wants a cabinet full of people who are terrified of defying him. If you judge Trump as taking his lessons directly from the "Dictator Wanna Be Handbook", his choice of Matt Gaetz as Attorney General made perfect sense.
  1. Choose your direct lieutenants from political hacks who are highly unqualified for the jobs. They will always remain loyal yes men to Trump because they owe their well paid jobs to him.

  2. In Gaetz's case, he had 2 reasons to always do whatever Trump wanted. In addition to his lack of any qualifications, he had police investigations hot on his trail.
The same can be said of RFK, Jr for HHS Secretary, Pete Hegseth for DOD Secretary, Dr. Oz, and a host of other flunkies.
While Gaetz is a slimy greaseball, this guy is a complete nutter.
Trump’s Pentagon pick Hegseth wrote of US military taking sides in ‘civil war’ | Trump administration | The Guardian

In one of his five published books he wrote that in the event of a Democratic election victory in the US there would be a “national divorce” in which “The military and police … will be forced to make a choice” and “Yes, there will be some form of civil war.”
John Whitehouse, news director at Media Matters for America (MMFA) which tracked Hegseth’s Fox career, said that Hegseth has “always given off a proto-fascist vibe”, and that “the thing that appealed to him was going into Iraq as a crusader, and when that went wrong he started looking at America through the same lens”.
Addressing his conservative audience in a chapter of American Crusade entitled Make the Crusade Great Again, he writes: “Whether you like it or not, you are an ‘infidel’ – an unbeliever – according to the false religion of leftism.” He added: “You can submit now or later; or you can fight.”

Later in the book, he writes: “Build the wall. Raise tariffs. Learn English. Buy American. Fight back.”

Elsewhere in American Crusade, he writes: “The hour is late for America. Beyond political success, her fate relies on exorcising the leftist specter dominating education, religion, and culture – a 360-degree holy war for the righteous cause of human freedom.”
For someone who is all about "freedom", he isn't much of a fan of democracy. Oh, the irony...
Hegseth explicitly rejects democracy in American Crusade, characterizing it as a leftist demand: “For leftists, calls for ‘democracy’ represent a complete rejection of our system. Watch how often they use the word,” adding: “They hate America, so they hate the Constitution and want to quickly amass 51 percent of the votes to change it.”

There was a talk show and they were saying Dems are quiet and that is because they are going to sit back and watch the dumpster fire roll down the street lighting everything as it goes by. "You voted them in, careful what you ask for."

This administration doesn't have a "plan" so much as an agenda. An agenda that has much less to do with politics and serving the people and everything to do with serving themselves.

When you put a chimp in office, don't be surprised when he starts flinging turds.

..........does not have large bureaucracy experience.

I was looking up Dr Oz stuff and came across this. It's a recurring theme I have in some of Trump's picks. It helps to have gov't experience, how things work, what might happen with deep cuts to gov't, actual qualifications in a given field etc. Nah, nevermind.:p

An anti-vaxxer picked by Trump to lead CDC. What can go wrong when the next deadly pandemic strikes?

>>>President-elect Donald Trump has tapped former Florida Rep. Dave Weldon, a physician and vaccine safety skeptic, to lead the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<<<

"Restoring public confidence" in our institutions is one I often here. Not *what specifically* needs to be restored. Isn't the bold below well past scrutiny?

>>>Weldon, who served in Congress for nearly two decades, has also raised concerns about the safety of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine and Gardasil, the vaccine that girds against the papillomavirus virus, which can lead to cervical cancer.<<<

Per a TV screenshot. WSJ opinion by Elon and Vivek:

Requiring federal employees to come to the office five days a week would result in a wave of voluntary terminations that we welcome: If federal employees don't want to show up, American taxpayers shouldn't pay them for the Covid-era privilege of staying home.

What an odd claim. Must be stay-at-home moms or something.

Reported MTG might be on the DOGE team. She needs something to do. Nothing silly about this one. How dare I criticize their MAGA mission. ;)

Hegseth- has done tour, but what oversight experience does he have running an entire dept? Fox & Friends weekend host, so it feels like Trump is appealing to tv and MAGA.

RFK and Weldon- some of the transparency stuff regarding drugs is real good, but they're too big a problem in their past on anti-vax. The cons outweight the pros IMO. These are the two I'd like to see tossed in the vetting process but don't see it happening.

Bondi was a good, experienced choice. But will it be a Trump circus show, or real prosecution?

Dr Oz- I'm guessing this is the biggest con of the bunch. Ties to Asplundh family and investments in Medicare etc.

Some of the picks lower down the celebrity radar I like.

There's a video of (R) Markwayne Mullin saying Gaetz was chasing ED with Redbull so he could do all nighters. He said Gaetz then bragged about his conquests by showing pics on the House floor lol. Followed up by a video this year of him being PC regarding the Gaetz nomination. He fit the MAGA esthetic to perfection with his obnoxious caricature style. I like how a few out there were saying Trump was playing a masterclass of 4D chess when in reality Gaetz was the guy who represented Trump and MAGA the best. I don't believe thus is some chess move for him to get the Florida governorship, and I'm happy to say I think his political future is with his podcast and Newsmax. :)

Trump promises 25% tariffs on all imports from Canada and Mexico on day 1. China gets an additional 10%

It will be interesting to see how this will play out.

>>>“On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. “This Tariff will remain in effect until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!”

Similarly, Trump said that China will face higher tariffs on its goods – by 10% above any existing tariffs – until it prevents the flow of illegal drugs into the United States.

The punishing tariffs, if enacted, could wreak havoc on America’s supply chains and industries reliant on goods from the country’s closest trading partners.

“The measures proposed this evening could hit a number of strategic US industrial sectors hard, add approximately $272 billion a year to tax burdens, raise goods prices, lift interest rates, and sap strength in an already-vulnerable household sector,” said Karl Schamotta, chief market strategist at Corpay Cross-Border Solutions. …<<<

Not a real in-depth article but brings up a broader concern on RFK: what will be next? I thought the point of pasteurized milk was to kill off whatever is in it? I'm not seeing how raw milk, being more "natural," is more digestible? Isn't that why there's a silk and rick milk craze? I do rice because I cannot really drink much silk. Or I might go back to 2% cause it costs less. There's any number of possibilities. Skim just tastes terrible.
