Siegfried Linkwitz, who is a well respected loudspeaker designer has recently come to the conclusion that his Orion speaker, which measures flat out-doors is in fact too bright in-doors. He determined this by listening. His response was to rework his crossover and introduce a roll-off in the tweeter for Orion. He goes on to hypothesize why a speaker which does not measure flat should sound better than one that does measure flat. Interesting. I would suggest reading this link:
