Used AVR & Subwoofer Help

So after a lot of time and research and help on these forums I decided to go with externally powered speakers to begin building my new home audio (over time). I went with a pair of 3-Way Floorstanding Heco Aurora 700 speakers as I found them half-off MSRP open box basically brand new condition.
Now I am looking for some help on the following:

1. Looking for help & suggestions on AVR models, specs, and features to look for in the Used Marketplace.
   • I plan to add-on to the system into a 5.1 system over time & potentially 7.1 but not for some time.
   • I would prefer something relatively new but I know at the price point may be difficult.
   • Primarily music via Google Audio Chromecast Streaming, Vinyl Player (built in pre-amp), & my TV - no need for 8K capability.
   • From searching Facebook marketplace I have come across Denon X2600H, Yamaha RX-V683, but that is all worth noting at the moment.
   • Ideal to stay around $400 for the AVR at least for now - could always upgrade down the road
   • I am located in Atlanta, Georgia.
2. I am about to order a RSL Speedwoofer but I am wondering of this particular sub is overkill? Or just right

The 3311 is at least 10 years old, think a bit older. Post up some of the specific avrs/prices you're interested in or post your location so maybe we can help review craigslist offerings....

Will you be using this with a modern tv?

I'd use a sub with those speakers....but they are spec'd to go decently low....depends on what you want in that regard.

I'd use a sub with those speakers....but they are spec'd to go decently low....depends on what you want in that regard.

Dang if he can even find an avr that cheap ? Prices have shot up . Yeah have op post his options?

Looked a bit at craigslist, not a lot of avr action....more 2ch stuff. If it's between a sub and avr at that budget I'd increase the avr budget for your future goals/setup, and hold off on the sub. How about the tv side of things, any particular requirements? Basically you can do your budget for an older avr without a lot of the current bells and whistles for tv and some playback formats (you using discs or streaming services?)....or do you want something fairly modern as far as feature sets (like 4k or 8k, HDMI 2.1/eARC/HDCP 2.3 etc).

The Speedwoofer is a good sub for the money....whether it's suitable for your room/use, hard to know.

I could go that route again, or bluetooth connect the receiver to one of my google homes, or even connect it to the Google Home app via bluetooth.

Modern costs more to put it briefly. $400 just doesn't get you much worthwhile IMO (maybe for short term if you want to maybe sell it or use something in another system, etc). You wouldn't particularly need the latest/greatest features otherwise which are aimed at 8k use.

Doesn't really matter if it's for music or movies, more about whether you want multich capabilities and even good subwoofer integration features....much 2ch gear doesn't have ways of handling even digital audio in some cases. Sometimes you just gotta do your homework, hard to give you a list of potential units, there's simply too many. I'd aim mainly at Yamaha, Denon, Marantz for avrs....Onkyo/Pioneer/Integra maybe. Sony hasn't been very competitive for a while and hardly offers anything now.

Having a 4k tv would probably stick to avrs from the last few years if going used. I'm not familiar with the google home stuff, although I employ four Audio Chromecast units in various systems around the house (and went the digital optical input route altho the analog section works fine, too).

TVs and better streaming devices will need hdmi...but for your use 2.0 should be fine. Most avrs will have a few optical and coax digital inputs. Phono stages are hit and miss, they've been omitted from much of the lower tier avrs for a while, altho they've come back a bit lately. Just have to see if it has one.
