Ukraine – Russia … not more of the last thread

The Twitter link contains a drone movie from the Ukrainians of them destroying a number military vehicles with GPS guided precision rockets. The GMLRS rockets are used by several weapons systems, not only the HIMARS.

This is what awaits the Russian dictator Putin on a much larger scale in Ukraine and the Black Sea if he uses a tactical nuke in Ukraine.

No wonder that the Russians are beaten on the battle field, despite their numerically much bigger military force, as well as economy.

Human rights activists from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday. Among them is Oleksandra Matviichuk that is the head of the Ukrainian branch of the Center for Civil Liberties.

Below is a Twitter movie by her about today's Russian bombing of a children's playground in Kiev, and is a stark reminder of the Russian's armed forces brutality and war crimes in Ukraine and elsewhere.

The UN General Assembly just voted 143-5 to condemn Russia's attempted annexation of four regions in Ukraine (35 abstained).

>>>The United Nations General Assembly has voted overwhelmingly to condemn Russia's attempts to annex four regions of Ukraine.

The resolution was supported by 143 countries, while 35 states - including China and India - abstained.
As well as Russia, four countries rejected the vote, namely Belarus, North Korea, Syria and Nicaragua.
Although symbolic, it was the highest number of votes against Russia since the invasion. . . .

The General Assembly vote was triggered after Russia used its veto power to prevent action at the Security Council - the body in charge of maintaining international peace and security. As permanent members, China, the United States, France and the United Kingdom also hold vetoes on the council.

There have been calls for Russia to be stripped of its veto power after the Ukraine invasion.<<<

Not all warheads are just explosives, as the clip below shows the effects of. There are warheads that are cluster bombs but they are being phased out as too many are duds and a danger to everyone for a long time afterwards.

>>>Ukrainian soldiers inspecting an aftermath M30A1 alternative warheads shot by HIMARS/M270 with thousands of tungsten fragments on #Russian R-149MA1 command and staff vehicle. Possbly destroyed and abandoned a lot earlier than the video published today.<<<

A rather depressing scenario to contemplate.
We Are On a Path to Nuclear War - War on the Rocks
A lot of discussion about a U.S. response to Russian tactical nukes involves a massive conventional attack to wipe out a large portion of Russia's conventional military. The big question is, how would Russia respond? Hopefully (if it comes to that) the author is wrong about Russia responding with more nukes.

It's not a pleasant topic.

I really hate Putin.

Another chilly reminder what Russian forces do in wars.

>>>Russia is using rape and sexual violence as part of its “military strategy” in Ukraine, a UN envoy said this week.

The claim follows data released by a panel of UN experts recently that verified “more than a hundred cases” of rape or sexual assault incidents reported in Ukraine since February.

“When you hear women testify about Russian soldiers equipped with Viagra, it’s clearly a military strategy,” Pramila Patten, UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict, said in an interview with AFP on Thursday.

She added that many cases involved children and also said that the true number of victims was likely to be far higher than official figures suggested because sexual crimes are often “under reported.”

There are many cases of sexual violence against children who are raped, tortured and sequestered,” Patten said.<<<

Here's another grim article about Putin's "strategy."

I find myself wondering, if the Russian military advised Putin before the war that they'd have no problem taking over in Ukraine, who's to say the Russian military isn't telling Putin fairy tales about the outcome of using nukes?

>>>The military threats to Russian positions in Ukraine, based on the Kremlin’s miscalculations, have reached the point where the Kremlin has effectively issued an ultimatum to the world: either Russia wins Ukraine or it will resort to nuclear escalation.<<<

Kremlin power struggle?

Putin cuts off Nordstream to Europe
Gazprom and Lukoil revenue plunges
Powerful oligarchs who control those companies lose massive income
Those oligarchs express opposition to the Special Military Operation
Gazprom and Lukoil executives die under suspicious circumstances

When was the last time any Russian was convicted on war crimes? We know of one soldier in Ukraine. Will the higher ups be prosecuted?
