Tom,

I picked up a couple TSC ASW-8" to use as stereo subs for my bedroom setup. I think they are Energy knock-offs but for $83 shipped ea I couldn't pass it up. I'll post up my thoughts on them after I get them hooked up.

Nice, definitely let me/us know what you think. Granted these are only 8"ers, but a dual setup in a bedroom should pound pretty well I'd think.

Funny you mention that about them being Engery knock-offs, anamorphic96 mentioned that on my TSBL review here and I think he even picked up the TSW-10, haven't heard back from him on his impressions as of yet, though... -TD

I read about the similarities on AVS. It doesn't matter to me, just noticed it when doing research. There are only so many ways to build and finish a sub enclosure.;) Mine do have the "TSC" logo on the bottom center like the Energy logo.

Agreed. :)

Not sure why some get their panties in a bunch over similarites like that sometimes, but they do. It's true that unless you go crazy with the aesthetics, there's only so many ways to build your enclosure and for those that do build something noticably different, it usually results in a higher cost.

So long as it does it's job well and I consider it to be a good value, that's what matters to me... -TD

What speakers? If you mean drivers, it looks like the same drivers as the P5-PRs, just an additional mid driver as well as a larger cabinet... -TD

Here are my ASW-8's. I'm going to use them in conjunction with my X-LS stacked on top for my two-channel setup until my WmAx speakers arrive.

They don't look too bad, I'm sure they'll do nicely.

Chris is doing some mods for you I take it or is their something he's building for you? I've got to send him a pair of TSC TSBLs I grabbed from a friend. We'd traded PMs at the end of last week about it as he was interested in doing some measurements on them, just haven't had time to get to FedEx and drop them off yet...

Are those SoundSplinter drivers in the big boys in the background? I recognize the EP2500 but wasn't sure about those. I'll bet they do some kickin' of their own... -TD

He's basically rebuilding a set of Infinity P362 floor-standers for me using a new tweeter and JL 8W7....and a "little" bracing.;)

They are the DS12 clearance drivers Rythmic audio is selling. They were once sold by TC Sounds aka Sound Splitter aka Audio Pulse. (I think all those names are related.) :D

They are holding their own against my dual HSU setup though not getting quite as deep.....but that will be taken care of with the ported monster I plan on building in a couple months.

That's right, I knew I'd seen them somewhere, they do look like the RL-P series from SS, though.

Such a shame TC folded, they made the best drivers I've heard to date and I've heard quite a few over the past couple of years. I'm just glad I was able to grab some of their stuff ( 2 TC-12 OEMs and a 15" TC-2000 I recently built an enclosure for) before they closed up shop... :( -TD

No I meant the actual speakers in those packages. They are selling a couple packages that inclue two bookshelves and a center and was wondering if they coresponded to any of there speakers they have or are similar to any of them? The main one I am looking at is the lcr3. I am mainly concerned with the center. I am probably gonna get their tc2, two tst1's possible tst2's, and a pair of tss's. Was wondering if the center is similar to the tc2 or if it was not as good. Great deal cause I could add that and move the two bookshelves to rear duty and have a nice 7.1 setup for about the same cost. Would I be better off going with the tc2 or are the centers pretty similar?
Also will have their 10in sub.

I gave the ASW-8 subs a listen to today in a temporary two-channel setup.

Not bad, not bad at all. They fill in the bottom end nicely while I was playing some DMB. If I get real ambitious I'll get them hooked up to the main system and run the SMS-1.

That's true... :)

Kind of a no-brainer in a smaller setting. I'll bet you could even add some polyfill or batting of some sort to improve any resonance, if there is any. I can't imagine they add a ton considering their costs and what I've seen from their speakers.... -TD

True. You wouldn't believe how little polyfill gets applied even to $600 subwoofers (sold at the retail level). A nice, 2 Lb. bag of polyfill from Wally-World runs about $2.67.
