Well you can also get a SMS-1 sub eq from velodyne, I got a good line on them if your interested... but they do work fantastic and are easy to use...

and now with the latest firmware, they perform just perfectly...

So if you have 2 Subs, you will have to turn DOWN their volume to level-match with the other speakers?
Possibly... I just use the sub output on the receiver to lower it.. then you can boost it any time

You mean for measuring frequency response & distortion?

So basically, the Digital Drive Sub EQ will assess the room acoustic and overall frequency response of the subwoofer? What about the other speakers?

Here is mike c's screenshot of the sms.
as you can see, it has the ability to EQ all the way up to 200hz, but I wouldn't use it for the upper end.. Just the areas of sub that you need EQ'd..

You can move the sliders to anywhere you want them to be... It comes with a MIC and you output video of the unit to your screen, and make freq adjustments however you see fit... It really is a fantastic unit, and until recently had come under fire for the early low end roll off, and distortion, but they seemed to have fixed those problems with the latest firmware release, thank god... It has mad a huge impact to the bass response in my system...

Do you guys think that DT's new sub caused the power outage in Oklahoma or was it really the ice storms?

Well, boys, I took the plunge today and bought the DefTech Trinity for $1,900 (MSRP: $3,000, discount: $1,100).
12-month No Interest since my HT bank is close to Zero.:D
Wow....I googled it and it looks impressive!!

Dimensions:18" W x 18" D x 31-3/4" H
Frequency Response: 10 Hz — 200Hz
Driver Complement: Two 14" long-throw SuperCube Technology subwoofers coupled to four 14" infrasonic radiators
Built-in Amplifier: 2000 watts Digitally-Coupled Class D Amplifier
Low Pass Crossover: 24 dB/octave continuously adjustable variable (40 —150 Hz) plus Unfiltered LFE direct coupled input
High Pass Crossover: 12dB/octave continuously variable (40 — 150hz)
Speaker level: 6 dB octave (80 Hz)
Finish: Piano gloss black
Weight: 175 lbs.

Attaching the term "supercube" to the trinity subwoofer is a bit of an misnomer, don't ya think? That sub is very manly indeed!! When I think "supercube"......small and petite come to mind, but those terms definitely don't apply to this subwoofer!!

Very impressive indeed!

:DLOL!

Actually, it was not really funny when we lost electricity!!!:(

It was also not funny when I almost got smashed by a light pole on the street!
Yeah, you know how it is in movies when something shocking happens and the movie character just stands there with his mouth open and don't even move an inch?
And you say to yourself, "What an idiot! If I were there, I move have run a mile a way!"
Well, this damn light pole just fell right in front of my car as I was making a left turn!
Slammed on the brakes. Mouth & Eyes wide open. Heart pounding. Wait for the dangling wires to swing back up (above car level). Slammed on the accelerator. That was close!

I can attest to that weight!!!

The BP7000SCs are about 160lbs each, but they are 53" tall, so when I move them around, they don't seem all that bad.

But the 175lbs Trinity!!!
It's 32" tall, and when I moved them to the corner, it felt like 300lbs!
I have not even plugged it in yet. I need to buy 2 more Y-cables for my pre-amp.

I will have a total of 3 LFEs- Trinity, BP7000SC Left, & BP7000SC Right.

Also, the Trinity will have a low-level RCA L+R Main Input.

So the Trinity will be "Tri-Wire": L + R + LFE:D

I should be able to plug it in today after work and give it a test spin.

However, I won't be making any frequency & SPL measurements because, I mean, C'mon, who cares about specs and numbers anyway, righ?:D

Yeah, I'm going to make sure that I'm the only one at home when I fire it up today.

Wow, your DIY King Kong Subs will need wheels.:D

I'll have to live vicariously through you on this one for a while! I look forward to what you have to say after getting it set up.

I am telling myself that my 4 surround speakers (SM450 = 47Hz-20kHz +/-3dB @ 90dB w/m, & 40Hz @ -6dB) are more than good enough for surround sound. I mean they're just for ambient and panning effects, right? C'mon!

But I can already see myself buying 4 BP10B towers to replace them. I've been a BAD BOY, and I just don't see myself changing anytime soon!:D
I've been very happy with my BPVX's; if you haven't checked them out already, worth a consideration and are only $100 more each retail than the BP10B's. They go plenty low for surrounds and do an excellent job. I also like having the same MTM driver compliment in all speaker channels. I didn't go with the BPVX/P version since I had plenty of external amplification to drive the BPVX's, but the crossover differences between the two speakers does allow the BPVX/P's to go a little lower in frequency response, but not enough to make me want to run power wires to my surrounds and spend the extra $$$. I doubt the difference in bass response in any of the surrounds you could go with would be noticeable at all with all the other subs in your system , unless you went with more large powered towers as surrounds. Didn't want to hijack the thread, but you brought it up and it's your thread! Congrats again on the sub, and heck you got 12 months to chip away at that bill.

Well, I just hooked up the Trinity w/ LFE + L+R Low-Level RCA.

Very DEEP LOW POWERFULL Sound.

Kept all the channels' levels the same @ 65dBC on my four RL-11s. However, I had to turn the Sub levels on my two BP7000SCs down from 12 o'clock to 10 o'clock & the Trinity also @ 10 o'clock to keep all the levels matched. The only thing I played so far was my favorite compilation CD 2-ch. Of course, the only thing that was different was the increased bass. I have not played any movies yet.
But my first impression was the increased walls rattling/shaking all over the house.:D
My wife said, "Are you trying to bring the house down?"

To be 100% honest, the Two SuberCube Reference Subs inside my Two BP7000SCs can also rattle all the walls in my 3000 sf house. But for some reasons, the Trinity just rattled the walls A LOT MORE. I guess it's because it can go a lot Lower & more Powerful than the BP7000SCs?

So the channel levels (including LFE) are still the same as always at 65dBC, but I guess I'm getting a lot more SubSonics (Significant Vibration of All the walls in the house).

I think I will appreciate this a lot more when I build my 8,000 C.F. HT room.:D

I will comment more on movies soon.

First Impression: Very Deep Powerful Earthquake Subsonic Sound!:D
