The one, and the only question that will never have the same answer, or will it? I belive myself not only being canadian and having a passion for picture perfect sound, I'm going to have the place my bet on the Paradigm S8's from their Signature Series. Even though I haven't even heard a pair I'll have to say the Studio 100's, nah, the studio series is something to brag about, and as with all paradigm the more you spend the better it gets, and from the reviews I've seen thats what I have to say. please reply with what you find are THE BEST speakers, money no object.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, I am trying to create a reference here to make a point, when diciding your true ulimate favorite, please consider that I'm comparing through the same equipment. (Oracle c.d. player, Bryston Amplifiers and pre-amp, all outfitted with some rediculously expensive straightwire cables.)

That's not entirely true. Yes the studio 100's are phenomenal. I've been enjoying them four the past 3-4 months, and believe these will remain my reference ht speakers for years to come. But I have the servo15 v.2, and the extra 1k spent on the signature servo is really for looks. They are basically the same sub with a few modifications on the signature that I don't believe can really be heard (especially for 1k).

you really need to lay off the crack. Maybe for HT but they are not even what I would call fullrange. I am holding out for a pair of Salk HT3s

Coming from Boston I would expect no less. I don't know what you consider full range, but the studio 100's extend down to 28hz...ACCURATELY! Personal preference is a whole other realm that need not be pursued here. I was pondering the B&W 703's, and even though they are different, and B&W is phenomenal in their own right, I opted for the Digm's, and have never looked back. I just Love 'em!

Let me add that I would not Consider my Paradigm Studio 100's, nor the B&W 703's, nor your Salk's "The Ultimate." However, price is a consideration but for all a small percentage of the populace (maybe 0.01%). So I would say my Paradigm speakers are the ultimate for my ears for my system in my setting for the price I paid. Done.

The Ultimate speakers for me would be the Gryphon Poseidon.
Currently, I have the studio60.v3 for almost a year now and I am quite happy about them.

I personally would never even consider classifying Paradigm as the "ultimate" in any class let alone 'cost no object'. That's just my opinion though...

For cost no object start looking at the top lines from Wilson Audio, Genesis, Sonus Faber, Rockport Technologies, Von Scheikert, Silverline Audio, Kharma, Merlin, Marten Design, etc.

What about all those $10,000+ ribbon and planar speakers? I was thinking of looking for a show so I could hear some just for fun.

Since there was nothing else to go by, I used his "coat of arms", not at the risk of offending all Bostonians (unless you concur with his half-wit remark), just the half-wit that made it. Forgive me.

For the money, I like the Energy Veritas 2.4i's. These sound exactly the way I want speakers to sound. I don't care if they can't beach a whale with bass, thats what a subwoofer is for (DD15 x4).

Money no object, Near Field Acoustics Pipedreams come to mind. Also the RBH/Status acoustics monsters Gene has. Theres a bunch that are crazy, to many to list.

No worries, but I'm not so sure sts9fan was even commenting on your posting. Being a three quarter wit, I'd hate to be lumped in with half-wits... -TD

Bragg whatever you like about the paradigm 100. But as far as i'm concerned, they DO NOT impressed me. I went to one of the local dealer to do a demo and they DO NOT impresssed me at all, i say it again. I didn't like them at all....go figure. enough of bragging please. and i don't understand why they would not want audioholics to review them...if they are that good, they would not be afraid...period!

you guys that are bashing the paradigms (needlessly) in this thread need to chill out, weather you like them or not was never the question plus your now talking about a members system.

Hehehe

Personally speaking if your going to state that "I'm on crack" for loving the paradigms, I'd have to say you're on meth. They're beautiful speakers, both physically and sonically. If you had an entire signature set up right to the ballcock, setup with nothing but bryston and oracle, or even krell, what the hell do you thinks gonna beat that! Paradigm is commited to quality, just because the S8's are a mere 6k compared to some speakers you can buy, doesn't mean they can be compared as such. Anything canadian made I see anywhere that has dedication behind it is usually some of the most beautiful you'll see, both in physical features and to their purpose. I'd have to say if you're going to beat them, you'll have to go with the Klipsch vintage Khorn or LaScala, and they don't sound anywhere near as accurate even though they are AMAZING! or the obvious and go with Infinity Reference Standards from back in the day. Just to finish things off I'm going to state the simple fact that every audiophile should be aware of (unless you're just an ignorant %^&*@) In a worldwide audio competition, the Studio 100v.2 were runners up to a pair of speakers worth $150,000 now if you think that the signature aren't worth much, I think you need your brain checked, and even though I stated that they could be beat by the Infinities, I'd have to say I'll never buy anything other than paradigm, because why not?
