When 2/3 of American gun deaths are suicides, how could improving access to mental health care not help. And, if you think that I believe in improved access to mental health care as a measure to lessen gun violence in place of tighter gun control, you haven't read everything I've stated about the issue, or are deliberately taking it out of context.

I read your post independent of any others posts you may have posted. I was not involved in this thread until yesterday and did not read any of the 12 pages, just the first few and the last few.

I am very pro mental health care. I know it to be nothing more than a distraction in the gun control conversation however.

If one case is considered, the logic is good- he stopped short of shooting the guy who had a knife but there are so many others who would never be able to do that- there was a case in Texas where someone saw a couple of dirtbags breaking into his neighbor's house, so he called 911. He told the operator that he was going to get his shotgun and go after them, didn't end the call, went out with his gun and shot them as they ran away. The recording had the gun shots along with people yelling. He was acquitted, but shouldn't have been because he was under no direct threat.

How about the sane ones snapping after the fact? Annual psych testing? 6 Month? Every month?

I would argue that most "sane" folks that were to have that type of out of character homicidal snap, someone would end up dead, gun or no gun.
