First off, it doesnt take much to get a "ricer" to go fast. The are small light cars so they dont need the power that a 4000 lb chevelle has to have to get up and go. Plus they can do it all while getting 30 mpg, how many mustang owners can say that? I haven't always been a fan of them, my first car was a 1993 Mustang GT, it was great, that 5.0 engine sounded amazing, but it sucked down gas, which wasn't bad b/c when I started driving it was down at like 70 cents a gallon. My next car was a Mitsubishi 3000gt VR4. The mustang had nothing on an all wheel drive twin turbo v6, I smoked 5.0's all the time at the tracks. I had a friend with a Nissan 240sx, dropped a Nissan Sr-20 motor in it from japan, imagine a 2000 lb car with 330hp, it could fly.

Now back to the games, I love the NFSU games b/c they are more free roam, gran turismo is ok, and yeah its more realistic, its supposed to be..its a racing simulation game, but driving in circles around a track gets borning fast and later in the game with like the 100 lap endura races I was going mad. NFSU is an arcade racing game, and I love the fact that I can customize the car and make it look the way I want to, I think thats what makes the game so fun.

In regards to frame-rate, NFS:U2 runs at a very choppy 30fps. When all the cars are on-screen, it drops noticably, down to the 15-20fps range. GT4 runs at a near-solid 60fps, only occasionally dropping down to around 55 in some of the higher-detailed areas when all the cars are on-screen. And it just plain looks better. Clearly the code is far more optimized than what EA is spitting out. That's a programming issue, and a sign of how EA looks at their games. Quantity over quality seems to be their motto.. they release three NFS's for every one GT, and even though they suck by comparison, they still make the money just because the NFS fans will buy all three.

As for the "normal car" argument, I wasn't referring to "stock vs tuned" of the same car. I was referring to people who dump a hundred grand into some little hatchback, when they could just go buy a BMW M5 for many thousands less, and win any race against any car that's not a Ferrari. There's a huge difference between a car that's been designed to go fast, and a car that's simply modified to go fast. As for the external mods, you folks DO realize that the vast majority of people actually laugh at those cars, yes?

As for "driving around in a circle", that's what we like to call "racing".

Well if someone dumps 100k into a hatchback they could be running 6's at the track, and last time I checked an M5 cant do that. Thats the whole point of a "tuner" car anyway, to tune the car into a performance car. Wheres the fun in buying a car already decked out. I think its a lot more fun to build something myself even if I could afford something else. Sure I could go buy a viper for say 60 grand, but I'd have way more fun buying a 99 Vette, throwing twin turbos on it and a better suspension. Spend 20 grand less and smoke a viper in a race.

And personally I think the driving around in a circle is boring as hell, and I'm not going to argue that it isnt racing, but in a game I think its a lot more fun to race a more point to point race and be able to choose what I think is the best route, but thats just my opinion.

and I agree with you. N4SU2 had more than just circuit races, it had drag, sprints, drifts, etc., and over all it was more fun-even if its frame rate was lower. N4S maynot have the best graphics, but its the quality of the game play, not the graphics. I'm sure lots of people like snes games. They're fun, horrid graphics, but they're awesome.

I also agree with the real car thing. It is more fun to get a not-top-of-the-line car and mod it, instead of getting a high end car. But all cars can be modded, after all, if you're really into street racing, or if you've got a freeway without a speed limit.. you could always add a nos tank, or 2 :p, but if you don't want to go that far you could always add neon or new bumpers. Spinners, I'd get spinners, but thats just me

Well, that's certainly your perogative, if you're into that sort of thing. Just be comfortable in the fact that whatever car you've got could be stomped into the ground by a low-end Ferrari.

And what do you mean by "run 6's at the track"? Is that some sort of street-racer slang that us "old people" aren't privvy to?

Well what I have now is a Mitsubishi Mirage, so yeah I think a ferrari could beat mine, unless you mean my motorcycle a Kawasaki ZX-10r and then I think I may have the leg up on the Ferrari :)

run a 6 second time at the drag strip is what I was reffering to

A low-end Ferrari, yes.. It may be faster off the line, but that doesn't always mean much... An Enzo will tear apart just about anything in the corners, no street bike could ever keep up on an actual track.

You've been playing too many video games. Top Fuel dragsters, yes. Road cars, no. No matter how much it's modified.

what about a road car, there's this one mazda that has a very similar body to a ferarri and some people just take out the interiour and replace it so it look identical to a ferarri exept the engine, with a ferarri enzo engine with an added hemi and 2 nos tanks, couldn't that beat a regular enzo :p? sounds video-game-ish, but it is possible and doable, just costs alot.. but probably not as much as an enzo..in my city you canèt drive an enzo i think...noo my computers gone all french keyboard on me! é! è! à! arg gets very anoying and it happens randomly..

Is a Ferarri fast? Undoubtedly. Is it faster than a Hyundai Tiburon? Also yes.
But drive 1000 miles n real roads and what have you got?

*A Ferarri that needs $8000 worth of an alignment + tune-up
*A Hyundai thats 1/5 of the way to its next oil change

Nobody buys a supercar to go to the mall in, they have their strong points (raceing...raceing....raceing), and they're also terrible at everything else (driving to work).

True, but not all Ferraris are supercars. The 612 Scaglietti, for example, is a Grand Tourer, a four-seater with the engine in the front, which is unusual for a Ferrari (granted, that front engine is still a 6 litre V12...). It's perfectly capable of driving across the country as often as you like. In fact, that's what it's designed for (hence the classification as a GT car).

An Enzo, on the other hand... yeah, that's just for showing off.

if i could, I'd get a McLaren F1..fastest car...that thing with nos tanks and woooww.. it would be totally impossible to stop a dude in a car like that, well unless you call in the army or your engine blows out... theyère pricy none the less, but... if I could.. If i was a multi millionare.. I'd buy a very narrow strip of land, miles long, get that car and push it to its limits, after taking out all unnecessary thing, like back seats, if it even has any, and replacing the remaining seat with lightweight ones, same for the windsheild and windows, make it light and fast. Also, because they're aeirodynamically designed to keep you on the ground, instead of flying up in to the sky (then crashing down) you're good to go..

I suppose I am into video games, great time killers they are. fun, play online, friends are there, then comes school...less time to play but.. whatever still have lots, especially when I put off major projects... more time, until, "O ****, I'VE GOT ONE DAY LEFT TO FINISH IT?!".. then for that one day, no gaming, but its all good.

Playing video games isn't the only thing I do, I play them from time to time ya know, but i don't have an obsession for them.
