Yet another Dolby atmos title gone to dtsHDMA 7.1 for release this March. Sorry you won't be hearing Voice of God booming down from overhead. :D Being a Fox release I knew months back it would never see atmos on bluray.

I'll buy it for the dtsHDMA 7.1 and use my own free overheads and below surrounds. I bet that final with parting of the red sea Tsunami will have lots of bass across LCRS-SB-"SOH" (Son of Overhead) and tones more on the LFE.1.

UK region B release is unclear might be April, I can wait an extra 4 weeks.

My ATMOS episode# 4.

I just saw "Kingsman" in an ATMOS theater.

Every time an action scene occurred, I asked myself the same question - can't they reduce the volume in the surround speakers?

So after 4 ATMOS movies now under my belt, my conclusion is still the same - the ATMOS surround channels are just LOUDER and I prefer my IMAX theaters because I get a lot better BASS. :D

If I wanted LOUDER surround effects, I could just increase the Surround levels by 3dB to 6dB!

No. I don't want louder surrounds. I want awesome bass, crystal clear dialogue, and balanced sound.

TAKEN 3 (2015)

Another reason to ditch Dolby atmos products. 20th century fox are so tight. They release their product for cinema atmos release but don't give a damn for those consumers who spent out thousands per atmos AVR. Money for nothing.

So 20th century fox once again have used dtsHDMA 5.1. What 5.1! On the imdb site states Dolby Surround 7.1 release as well. 20th century fox are ultra tight.

I wouldn't hold breath for lens JJ flares Mickey mouse star wars ears for 2016 bluray Dolby TrueHD 7.1 atmos as facts speak for them-self I think this more than 4th release from 20th century fox where an atmos hasn't been released for atmos paperweight AVR's.

20th century fox are bloody cheeky buggers.

As for buying this bluay I have TAKEN the time to spend the £20.00 TAKEN money on cat for my cat. :D

Dolphin Tail 2 didn't get Dolby TrueHD 7.1 atmos it got wonderful dtsHDMA 7.1 and decided to spend the £20.00 on Dolphin friendly tuna-fish for my cat instead.

Now what is wrong with this advertisement for Dolby atmos for $22,999.00?

It comes with lots of hardware expect for the one important thing. The CONTENT of Dawn of the Planet of Apes.

Yes, that sounds like a reasonable wish. And it can best be fulfilled by a set of really good 2.0 speakers with a really good amp. Of course, a set-up like that is in the tens of thousands (USD), way beyond most home cinema.

Of course, a 2.0 set-up won't have surround effects in movies, despite being unbeatable in pure sound quality (as in for music). So, I guess a few surround speakers can't hurt, but only a few. Like, two (i.e., a 4.0 system with really good speakers that can supply their own bass, or possibly up to 5.1 with mid-range speakers). But I'd much rather have a lower number of solid, good-sounding speakers than a room chock full of rattletraps.

Maybe this Atmos system will work in cinemas, but for home theater I'd consider it little more than another marketing caper to pull money out of consumers' wallets.

Running 5.0 currently but will upgrade to 5.1 and maybe to 5.2 at some point when I have funds for it. 5.0 works amazingly well for movies with bigger speakers tho I'm still missing the lowest notes out there.

Calling the cybertron from above. :D

Has anyone even tried smaller bookshelf speakers and getting a mate to hold the speaker in their hand while one is sat in the seat in the room and play "pink noise" and get mate, to move the speaker along the sidewall at many height elevations and titled angles when placed up higher on the sidewall and back wall as well. No one tried this? That will at last give better idea on where to place the speakers and then mark the potions with pencil.

Then repeat the same ^ above while seated and get mate to stand on a chair or stepladder and hold out the small bookshelf even JBL control 1, compact/lightweight easy to stretch arms out a over a few feet while moving chair/stepladder and trying other areas on the ceiling while its facing downwards and playing "pink noise" while listening and noting on paper or laptop your thoughts for later reference use when finally fitting the speakers matched along walls and ceiling.

If you have good basic instincts :p on knowing where to place the speakers?

No pun, but had to cover the beaver up. :p

I would just look at the speaker-size and the room and make good judgments to placing them around the room to get the most defused surround from the inexpensive cost that I paid for.

4:20 I noticed at the original Empire Leicester Square EMPIRE 1, seated in the circle for second around watching/listening to Dolby atmos, 9th May 2013 Star Trek Into Darkness, or "deafness", it was bloody over too loud and not realistic or atmospheric.

I noticed a milder quiet scene some sound of voices positioned on right sidewall somewhere near closer to the back but where I was sat is roughly 35 40 feet to sidewall at slight diagonal upward angle when that is also taken into consideration but I didn't have tape measure with me and if I did I would measure it.

I'd have to listen to Star Trek Into Darkness another listening with the LCR muted on my reference SDDS/THX and see if I can find the scene but the home basic atmos won't do the same not sure about the 32 one? I guess it would place that sound specifically placed/positioned more or so less in the sane area?

Gene, as for hair on Hugo, its hair in the inner-ears that hairs/hears the sound.

Here is our answer to AVS Forum:
Gene,

STAR TREK II The Wrath of AVS. :D

Raise Shields!

I'm still curious of this dialog level? Will that also apply to dialog pans on left right and surrounds if its GRAVITY where the dialog pans all around.

Yeah where's this expensive auro3d going? I have heard almost zip on it apart from it costs an arm and leg hanging from the ceiling. lol I'm agnostic to voice of god. :D

I'm not anti Dolby just anti atmos as its not in my opinion to be a proper 3d sound with above and below the seating surround and I don't want to hear sound effects misplaced on common sidewall surrounds or even overhead with incorrect sound placement as I'm all too well of the real world when seeing films that I could relate to and Dolby atmos, has been saying in its advertisements life like realism, Yeah sure it is. That's why I was almost deafened by Star Trek Into Deafness (2013) that was an unpleasant film mix. I'd sooner watch STAR TREK II THE WRATH OF KHAN on letterbox ntsc laserdisc with the proper colour and in-tact Dolby Stereo film mix, as the English DVD bluray editions have a single missing sound effect, that is why I stay surrounded with listening... ;)
