I can't remember - have you measured the response of your sub/system (i.e. SPL as a function of frequency)?

Yes, my sub is setup for my room using REW and controlled via a DSP1124. The overall response curve is very good with only one fairly good dip at about 60Hz and this is the best I can get for any of the available placement positions.

a PC12NSD can easily be moved by a single person, but the plus and ultras, not without some creativity (don't try to spin it like a drum on a hard surface, unless you don't like your floor)

i like the cylinder i have now because it doesn't hurt as much when i bump into it (and it happens a lot)

i like that it only eats that small footprint in my room.

i don't like that i'll need a vacuum instead of a rag to clean it. but it's no biggie since i don't do the cleaning anyway.

i came from using the box ultras to this cylinder ultra. and looking at the box ultra again at a friend's house ... hot damn, that box is massive.

performance wise, i don't notice any difference (aside from the fact i went from 4 boxes to 1 cylinder)

Lint roller works great on the PCs. But since you don't do the cleaning probably doesn't matter

Anyone who knows me around here knows that I'm a huge fan of the current SVS subwoofer lineup, and I'm particularly a fan of the PC13-Ultra, which I feel is just a fantastic value! I've honestly not heard a better sub quality wise. I've heard subs that can play even louder. And they often cost several multiples of the PC13-Ultra's price. So to be honest, if I ever were to require more output than the PC13-Ultra can muster (which is already prodigious), I'd probably just opt to add additional PC13-Ultra units, rather than choosing a different, higher output sub

A while back, I highly recommended the PC13-Ultra to a forum member here. He had a great way of describing the level of sound quality, which was to say that it manages to convey "texture" in the bass, and that "real life" feel that you get when you're sitting close to the stage at a jazz club or a concert. That's a sensation that goes beyond just audible sound, and it's missing from a lot of lesser subs.

I also want to stress how flexible the cylinder versions really are in terms of placent options. The lower weight and small footprint are obvious, but a lot of people don't know that you can also lay the cylinder subs on their sides! That makes them really easy to tuck behind a couch, or along the edge of a wall.

So I'm a big fan of the cylinder form factor. And they're less expensive to boot! Can't beat that

When the sub was delivered, I noticed that Fedex tried to add another port in the sub by placing a fork of a lifting truck thru the top of the shipping container.

The sub took a nice hit and the only thing that showed damage was the top metal plate and the metal portion on the top of the sub. Overall, I was impressed that it stayed intact and nothing else broke.

My first one came with a big hole in the side of the box, so I think that FedEx has a little fun with these. Mine also had a dent in the top, but there was no damage to the box in that area, so it seemed to have been packed that way. SVS insisted on sending me out another sub, even though I only asked if I could get a replacement grill, just in case anything else was damaged that I couldn't see. Top notch, IMO.

...and my wife wasn't very found of the look.

Golly, Steve - with everything else going on, I've lost track if you've thought more about this in another thread.

I just got my PC13 set back up late last week after moving the SB13 out of the corner. I got in such a crunch with my review (my own fault) that I couldn't remember everything that I was thinking throughout the month in regards to the two designs compared to each other, so if you have any questions, just let me know.

I'm in the process of setting up the PEQ again. It turned out that my camera wasn't good enough to make it necessary, but I vacuumed my PC13 off in preparation for the review, and I think that I might have "adjusted" some of the settings...including sucking one of the knobs off the back. (I got it out of the nozzle before it got damaged...whew!)

Actually I was on holidays for a bit there so I haven't had any time to read the reviews yet. Hopefully I'll get to it in the next couple of days and maybe have some questions for you. I did talk to one of my friends to see if he wanted to buy my Velo and if he says yes that'll make the upgrade much easier to do!

Had my SVS cylinder for years....love it. Very reliable and excellent sound. They were a much smaller company then, but I found their service to be excellent and the sub shipped with no issues. Only complaint is that on a hard surface it will dance around a bit, but as stated earlier, an isolation pad should cure that. The wife has never been very fond of it...just complains that it shakes everything on the walls.

Thankfully I got most of my gear before I got married. Funny thing, marriage..the female of the species seems to completely lack any appreciation of (or sense of humor about) this hobby.
