Just bought myself a Teac A-H300; wanted one for quite a while now, and after long, long string of full-sized amps (Arcam Alpha 7, Denon PMA255, Denon AVR1905, Yamaha AX-496, Sony TA-FE230, etc) I finally treated myself to the little compact beauty.

The question is, what (relatively small) speakers would be best matched to the Teac? I've been looking at either the JBL Control 1s, or possibly the Mordaunt Short 902is. I also considered the relatively unusual choice of hunting around for a pair of used Celestion MP1s, as ideally I'd like to wall mount whatever I get, and the MP1s were designed specifically with this in mind.

I'll be running this setup sub-less though, so obviously anything I could do to maximize the bottom end would be nice.

Hello MDC,

If you have the possibility to listen to a pair of Epos 12.2, I would surely recommend that.
They are a great match for such a small TEAC configuration. Try to find something about the 12.2 on YouTube.

Good luck.

Greetings,

Marcel

I can strongly recommend the Dali Zensor 1 !
Its relatively small, has a beautifully "open" and clear sound and they are really doing a great job in a bookshelf btw! I was surprised of their bass abilities. Close to a wall or to the back of a shelf they are producing are more voluminous bass than on stands.

Try them if you can

Sorry... I don't have a clue ...
but I am starting to think aobut putting my teac through its paces...
Although I'm not missing anything in its sound, I don't have a comparisson to check if there would be a need for a recap or so...

Hey guys,

I recommend Panasonic or Nichicon. Don't use Elna.

The change in sound of my Reference A-H500i is big, in comparison for a week ago.

Not only the 4700uF version's but also the other (small) ones.

The decline of quality happens so gradually that you don't perceive.

Good luck.

Greetings,

Marcel

Need advice on purchase

I am interested purchasing a new or used A-H500 for my daughter. I am located in the US. Dakmart lists these units on their website.

They are listed as "new with manufacturer's warranty"

Has anyone purchased from them? Seems questionable at best.

They don't update their site. They haven't had any Teac reference gear available for several years now. I called them once and was on the phone for an hour just to make certain they didn't have them. They confirmed they did not and would not get anymore.

Hi
I just purchased an AG-H300 MK3 and was wondering is I can use the DSH01 Ipod dock/dac from the current reference line with this unit? Would I connect it to auxiliary in back?

You can always use your Ipod dock on the connection AUX. That is not a problem and works on every amplifier.

Marcel

Was also interested in the dac portion which is why I was curious as to whether or not the ds-h01 would work. I do appreciate the response though.
