Here is the best place to read feedback about the Reaction speakers at the moment. These speakers would be a lot more powerful then the Golden Ear Triton 5s, they just wouldn't dig as deep, not that that matters with Hsu subs. The Radian drivers in the CX-10s are very heavy-duty, especially considering the cost of the speaker.

Ive been reading through the posts about them. They get great feedback it seems. Appreciate all your insight. I'm going to pull the trigger on 2 VTF-3 MK5's. And the Reaction CX-10s for LCR!

I went to Reaction Audio website and noticed at check out for the CX-10 that the price is $699.00. But there is an option to get a "
CX-10 LOUDSPEAKER WITH BERYLLIUM DIAPHRAGM". This bumps the price up $300.00 to $999.00. Trying to research exactly what this is and the benefit. See if it's worth what their asking. Thanks for any insight!

Here is a post explaining the differences. While the frequency response of the Be tweeter is somewhat smoother, it isn't a dramatic improvement over the aluminum. Personally, based on the frequency response charts, I don't think it is worth the surcharge unless you are doing very critical listening to something like chamber music with a string quartet. For your purposes, I wouldn't bother with the Be upgrade.

No such thing as overkill when it comes to subwoofers :)
You have to be careful not to put so much emphasis on sub(s) when it comes to bass or low frequencies in a small room, I'm learning this from experience. The room is king:)

A big +1 on this. A pair of any of those will have a major performance advantage over a single PB13 or Golden Ear sub- and cost less.
Can you define "performance advantage", what's your criteria for performance?

A possible smoother frequency response. Greater dynamic range. Less distortion and compression for the same output level. More efficiency per watt.

Thank you for that explanation.

I realize this is an old thread, but I too am in the market to replace my two subwoofers. I've owned many subs over the past two decades, including various brands, models etc... I use to have an SVS PB12-Plus2. When Tom Vodhanel left SVSound I decided to sell my PB12-Plus2 and bought a Power Sound Audio XV-30 (basically the same design as the former), then a few months later Tom let me trade up to dual XV-30Fse's so I could have two dual driver subs while using the same floor space. Now I'm looking to change brands and get two smaller sealed subs without losing too much spl. I've been comparing the SVS PB-16Ultra and the GoldenEar SuperSub XXL due to their smaller footprint which will enable me to explore different locations within my somewhat limited sized theater (1600 cubic feet). As before, the only location I had room for my two PSA XV30FSE's was at the back corner of my room, which I know isn't ideal for sub locations. I recently watched Gene DellaSala's YouTube video on the JL Audio E-112 which passed their bassaholic large room test, as Gene & Hugo said this was the first sealed medium sized sub to ever pass this test. So out of these three subs mentioned above, (PB-16Ultra, GoldenEar XXL & JL Audio E-112), can anyone recommend from hands on experience which one I should buy? Yes, at some point I'll most likely get a second sub, but for now I can only afford one until I sell my PSA subs. Any advice would be sincerely appreciated!

Man, a pair of PB16 Ultras would complete a very, very nice system for me. They cost a lot, but they're a lot of sub. They're taking all kinds of "of the year " awards and claim to be the most powerful, innovative sub on the consumer market... but I digress. This is a great question to start your own thread. you might get some more replies. This thread is pretty dusty...

You must be talking about the SB16-Ultra since the PB16-Ultra has a very large footprint. Between the Sb16, E-112, and Golden Ear, get the SB16, that is a no-brainer. The SB16 will have a major performance advantage over the others.

Yes, sorry! I meant the SB-16 not the PB-16. I'm so use to having ported subs and writing PB with most subs. Thanks for correcting me.

Well that was easy! Thank you for everyone's advice! The SB-16 it is!
