So, just to sum up my situation now:

I have definitely decided to sell the 660i and go with either a VTF-2 mk4 or a VTF-3 Mk4.

Can't decide right now.

Any pointers? Is the VTF3 worth the extra 100 for my scenario? Probably not, right? Think the VTF2 will give me everything i need?

The VTF3's primary advantage over the VTF2 is deep bass. I expect it will have a little bit more mid and upper bass output, but it will really start pulling ahead below the mid 20 hz range. My family is watching some action movie right now with the VTF3s, and I can hear every punch even though the VTF3s are about 40 ft away in another room.

I don't really need that. And like you said, I should probably be focusing on the mid 20s as my low point right now. And I am going to be doing near-field listening.

VTF-2 mk4 it is!
