Speakers for Woodshop

I'm looking for recommendations for new speakers for my woodshop. I have been using my son's old Sony all-in-one mini stereo system - basically a glorified boom box with detachable speakers - but it is starting to fail. The volume control does not work consistently. There is nothing wrong with the speakers (that wasn't wrong when they were new), but I'm going to put my old Denon AVR2805 in there and figured I should consider different speakers as well. Not looking for anything fancy. SQ will obviously suffer given the din of machinery so the critical concerns are that they are bulletproof/can operate well in a not-so friendly and dusty environment. Ideally they would be wall mountable as well.

Room size is 22 x 13.5.

Any suggestions?

I had a pair of these a while back and I remember them sounding fairly good. They’re indoor/outdoor speakers with a mouthing bracket that swivels. There a metal mesh covering the drivers and port which should help a little with dust.

I've had the Mackie CR3 in my garage for the last few years and they work well for me as garage speakers, they are powered speakers too. You may also consider the larger CR4.

Edit: Sorry, now I see that you plan to use an AVR, so you would want/need passive speakers.

The king of garage speakers, over a long period of time, has to be the Radio Shack Minimus 7.
It was sold by the railroad car back in the day.
You should be able to find them at a garage sale near you, or , the modern world equivalent at ebay.

I didn't say they were great. I just said they are the king of garage speakers all over America.

This is a good application for the Polk T15s, to be honest. You can get them for pretty cheap here. They have good power handling and are relatively sensitive for cheap speakers. They are easily wall-mountable with keyhole mounts in the back of the speakers.

I put my wood shop together and first project was some diy subs then some kit speakers; the speakers are in the shop, a set of Dayton BR-1s, my oldest commercial subs are out there, too. Perhaps build a set of speakers from diysoundgroup.com to get going with the wood shop?

JBL Control 5 - I love, love, love these speakers! The sound great, can play VERY loud and are quite durable:

You can usually find a used pair on the E of Bays for a great price.

I would think outdoor and not ported (can't imagine sawdust working its way inside the cabinet is a good thing)
