Yeah plenty of crazy folks will greet strangers at the door with a shotgun. And yes there are plenty of legal gun owners who have no business having them here.
There are also those who will chase you off their property with a gun. We have large rural areas and you can't rely on the police to come save you in a bad situation. That said I wish more folks would use a Tazer or Mace first.
Never shoot the leg if you want to just injure someone. Shoot in the butt. The leg has a major artery.
