Anyone have 665 AVR issues with HDMI causing TV blackouts?

I have uploaded the latest firmware patch for this TV to help the issues of this problem, but it still does it.

First I thought I could be having issues with the Samsung 46A750 TV which the display shuts off from 5-10 seconds, but sound is still playing, then I thought it could be the Cable Box, Time-Warner came over today to tell me that the signal was good, but they are having software problems with the OCAP HD-DVR boxes, but that is not one of the issues.

Samsung wanted me to do some troubleshooting steps to make sure it's the TV, before they come over to fix.
The TW tech told me it (maybe) just a possibility that if the HDMI cable goes from TV into the AVR, and everything else goes into the AVR including the TIME WARNER Box,
Bluray Player, then there might be a problem with the AVR. Something to do with the chain of components.

I did not buy Monster Cables, I bought them from Monoprice, which I have heard good things about, but he said maybe I'm getting half the signal since Audio and Video make up the HDMI, and maybe I got some bad cables. I checked them and they are in tight.

SOOOooo, has anyone had problems with the TV display going completely black, out as a result of something wrong with the Yamaha RX-V665?

Thank you for any replies!

You need to trouble shoot. Try connecting different sources direct it the TV with HDMI cables. If it does it with all sources the TV is at fault. If it does it with only certain sources then they are likely at fault.

If it does not do it with sources only connected via your AVR, then there are problems with the AVR. This problem is very likely to be a repeater HDCP HDMI handshake issue. If this is the case, then you AVR is most likely the source of the problem.

What version of HDMI does your receiver support, and is it switching or pass through?

Good job on making another post with the same thing. People here suggested testing different inputs to rule out bad receiver/cables/cable box. If you bypass the receiver with a different device and different cable and you still have the issue, you know it's the TV. Either you will have to use process elimination or the Samsung tech will. I guess you'd better call Time-Warner ten more times and keep pestering them with TV issues unrelated to the service they offer so you don't have to unplug anything.

Thanks rekced and TLS Guy,

Have you plugged your Blu-Ray player or cable box directly into the TV? Does it do it then? If the flickering issue goes away, I would suspect the AV receiver. If the problem is still there with two different devices plugged in directly to the TV with two different cables, I would suspect the TV. Seems pretty simple to me. If you doubt your HDMI cables you can always purchase new ones at a store that allows 30 days for returns. If the problem persists with the news ones, take 'em back because the ones you have were probably fine all along.

Your HDMI is more than just passing through as your receiver can decode Dolby True HD from HDMI and video upscale, so it must have repeater architecture.

Now it may be your cables. From the above you must have HDMI version 1.3. Monoprice have two grades of cable. You need to make sure you have the 1.3A cables.

If you get down to suspecting the TV, my Samsung has three words which can light up on the on/off button. My operators manual has several of the basic codes, such as bad bulb, but there are other codes which a TV repairman knows which indicate the internal part which is bad. I am having about $400 of repair work done today on a 4-yr old Samsung DLP.
